Run Report – Event No. 174 – 27th August 2016

We are Team GB!

Delamere parkrun was proud to be part of ‘I Am Team GB’ day which saw sporting venues all over the country opening their doors, and even ITV taking all their 7 channels offline for an hour, to encourage greater participation in sports of all kinds.

Whether or not this had an effect we don't know, but attendance was back over 300 for the first time in 10 weeks – with over 70 first-timers! The weather was close to perfect, dry, warm (but not too warm) and mostly dry underfoot.

No milestone t-shirts awarded this week, but we have a special mention for Ben (Benjamino) Gregory who has recently joined the exclusive 250 club!
Ben was already well on his way to 100 parkruns when he attended the very first Delamere event back in March 2013.
Since then he’s not only been a regular runner here but also one of our more prolific volunteers, often to be seen setting out and collecting up the arrows on the course that keep us all from going astray.
Ben did his 248th run at Delamere just after getting married, then his 249th while on honeymoon in Bordeaux.
The big 250 was achieved last week during his annual visit to Cannon Hill parkrun in Birmingham.

Another exotic mix of tourists this week including runners from Hampshire, Fylde Coast, Leeds, Llandudno, Surbiton, West Midlands & Wimbledon. Harshad Patel of Shabbarunners (West Midlands) has now run at 72 different parkrun locations, and Nick McKay from Wimbledon Windmilers was second finisher having now completed 351 parkruns.

As always a huge thanks to the wonderful volunteers and see you all next week!
