Well this time the rain forecast for later in the morning came early. But it wasn’t too bad, light and refreshing – helped by the lack of wind.
We’ve now reached half-way through Delamere’s 4th parkrun year so it’s a good opportunity to see how things are shaping up in the annual points competition:
In the female table Rosemary Symms leads Ann Collier by 110 points. Both have already earned their maximum volunteer’s quota of 300 points.
Rosemary consistently finishes high up the field typically earning 90+ points. However Ann, being the only parkrunner with a full attendance record at Delamere this year, is keeping her well within reach.
In the male table, newcomer Peter Clayton is currently having a close battle with former winner Ian Brough.
Last week, Peter was leading by just 6 points.
Today Ian upped his game, recording his best ever finish with 2nd place and 99 points. However Peter played his third ‘volunteer card’ (you may have seen him marshalling by the lake), earning 100 points and holding on to his lead – but for how long?
It’s all very close in both tables with quite a few other runners still in contention, and with up to 100 points up for grabs every week there’s still everything to play for!
Ian Brough is also celebrating being the latest Delamere regular to join to 100 Club.
Andrew Thomas and Kate Sharp both join the 50 Club, and our latest 10 Club member is Oliver Cliffe.
Well done all!
Great support from the marshals again, and huge thanks to all the other volunteers at the finish line and working in the background.
Advance warning about parking next week – Delamere Forest is hosting the North West Counties Road Relays also on the Saturday morning so there will be extra demand for parking spaces!
The two small car parks on the left just before the Visitor Centre are reserved for event officials. The main Visitor Centre car park and Old Pale car park by the parkrun start/finish will be open as normal.
