In case you are wondering, if there’s a storm next week then it will be called Ellen. If the trend of a storm each week continues for a while then we can look forward to Storm Vince in a few months! Joking aside (we hope), it was still great to be able to run yesterday and thanks to the Forestry England staff at Delamere Forest for not closing the forest despite the impending arrival of Dennis.
In the end it was still a fairly wet run for the 303 participants yesterday though they wouldn’t have minded as much as the 18 hi-viz heroes who made it all possible. They were Claire DARLINGTON • Mark FLANAGAN • Dylan BUGG • Alex MASON • Irene PIKE • Morgan FAWKES • Chris GRIFFITHS • Eileen GRIFFITHS • Joanna CASE • A J HALFORD • Shaun LIGHTFOOT • Mark LIGHTFOOT • Charles TWISS • Andy MARTELL • George SCOTT • Patrick SCOTT • Dawn APPLETON • Mr CARRUTHERS • Daisy BOLTON • Daniel MANLEY. It’s also worth pointing out that wet parkruns live on for a while as soggy jackets and finish tokens need quite a bit of attention to be reset for next week.
We’ll just reiterate parking again. As it happened the rain probably kept numbers down but please continue to park in Whitefield car park if you can. If we have more than about 350 runners then the Old Pale and café car parks will fill up: late arrivers will have to park elsewhere.
Yesterday was a special day for Wyatt Prior who qualified for his 10-run T-shirt and also to Karyn Bright and Duncan Fullerton who ran their 50th parkruns. We’ll also mention Barry Chambers who ran his 450 parkrun: maybe it will be 500 up in a year or so – but will it be at Delamere?
Next week sees our own unofficial milestone of 350 parkruns and those of you who worry about these things will know the week after it will be 7 years since we started parkrun at Delamere. There will be no special arrangements to mark this, simply because we have to keep numbers down at the moment. However we promise to have a belated party in the summer when the new car park is finished.
