Delamere parkrun #358, 18th September 2021

What a beautifully sunny September morning, perfect for both runners and volunteers. We are so lucky to have such a scenic location for our parkrun, hopefully appreciated by our 33 visiting first timers (from as far as Abingdon & Blackpool), as well as our 16 first ever parkrunners. Welcome all of you and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Congratulations go to our milestone runners, Sarah Larkin and Martyn Jones earning their 100 shirts, and Tony Range his 50th. Congratulations also to Sally and her hen party who all took part, some possibly enjoying it more than others, but all finished with a smile!

It was really nice for the marshals out on the course to receive a smile and a thank you from the runners too. We’ve had a good response to the shout out for more volunteers for next week, so thank you to all those who have stepped up. parkrun can’t take place without them so please do try to get involved a couple of times a year. It’s good fun (and much easier than running!). See you all next week.

This week 258 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 49 were first timers and 40 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 32 different clubs took part.

The event was made possible by 16 volunteers and they were Mark FLANAGAN • Irene PIKE • Nicola RUDD • Elizabeth CHANTLER • Heather MCBRIDE • A J HALFORD • Samantha MARTELL • Mark LIGHTFOOT • Charles TWISS • Andy MARTELL • Oli WASHINGTON • Dawn APPLETON • Valerie MARTELL • Jo HOOKER • Carl KIRKHAM • Rosemary WASS

The male record is held by Elliot BOWKER who recorded a time of 15:20 on 25th April 2015 (event number 108). The female record is held by Holly WEEDALL who recorded a time of 17:29 on 22nd December 2018 (event number 289). The Age Grade course record is held by Holly WEEDALL who recorded 91.33% (17:29) on 22nd December 2018 (event number 289).

Delamere parkrun started on 2nd March 2013. Since then 16,139 participants have completed 97,637 parkruns covering a total distance of 488,185 km, including 16,714 new Personal Bests. A total of 713 individuals have volunteered 5,591 times.
