#7 How cold?

A bitterly cold morning didn't deter the hardy dover junior parkrunners! It was great to see some more first-timers today and witness some pretty spectacular runs by all - the cold must make you run faster!

A massive thank you to the army of volunteers who turned up again today in search of their favourite hi-viz vest and whistle - we really appreciate your support, especially when we're sure you'd rather be home in the warm!

After a very energetic warm-up from one the runners (special thanks to Tom for that!), 36 juniors took off round the very frosty course, not even letting the slippery bridge put them off their stride - well done to every single one of you, we hope it didn't take long to warm up when you got home!

Apologies for the delay in processing the results, technology is wonderful all the time it works! There are a few unknown runners on the list, if you know you were in one of these positions and are registered with parkrun, please let us know and we'll update the list.

See you next week!

Welcome to Dover Juniors

Welcome to the inaugural Dover Juniors parkrun report! First of all we must extend our thanks to Your Leisure and Dover District Council for making this possible, and secondly to all the volunteers and runners who made our first event so fabulous. We welcomed 41 young parkrunners to the very first Dover Juniors parkrun in the stunning grounds of Kearsney Abbey, and my goodness we witnessed some determined efforts by all of them! Despite the slightly damp and muddy conditions it was inspiring to see so many youngsters (and some Mums and Dads) take on the 2km course around the grounds - congratulations to all of the finishers!

Parkrun is reliant on the volunteers who make every event possible, and we urge all parents to take a turn in helping out - if you can spare the time please do let us know - no special training required, just some encouraging words, vigilant eyes and hands that clap! Junior parkrun is open to all ages between 4 - 14 years and is held every Sunday at 9am, all abilities welcome. Dover Juniors start and finish outside the cafe in Kearsney Abbey Gardens each week and we would love to see you there.

Don't forget to register for your parkrun barcode before you arrive so that we can record your times and we hope to see you all again on Sunday - tell your friends and get them to come along too!
