Congratulations to the 185 runners who completed today's Druridge Bay parkrun.
The results have been uploaded and cheers to Geoff who has put the photo's on our facebook page.
Thankfully today was rain free but there was still some interesting puddles to negotiate!.
As, always many thanks to today's fantastic team of volunteers.
You're Simply the best.
Please give your consideration to being a volunteer we couldn't function without you.
I know we had one tourist from Bristol, among our 19 runners completing our two laps of the lake for the first time.
Well done to our first male and female runners who are both regulars, Ian Armstrong and Carole Page.
Finally, someone today has unfortunately left with the wrong size Black Karrimor gloves, we have your gloves, please could you return the large ones next week, to enable them to be returned to their owners, thank you.
Thanks for choosing Druridge Bay parkrun, have a great week we'll all be there again next saturday
Northumberland County Council are set to reintroduce parking charges at various sites around the county, including at Druridge Bay Country Park. The first event to be effected will be Saturday 21st July, with ticket machines and signage being erected in the next couple of weeks. However your superb Run Directors have negotiated a fantastic deal for all our parkrunners……….
As long as you place a parkrun barcode clearly in your cars windscreen you can park for free at the park until 10.30am! If you are staying after this time, you will need to purchase a parking ticket. Enforcement chaps will be making periodic checks of the sites carparks so please make sure you are covered. Our advice is to leave a spare barcode in your cars, thus you always have one to hand!
Any questions just email our event inbox...…..
Alas due to parts of the course resembling a skating rink we've had to take the rare step of cancelling the event on Saturday 20th January. One of our Run Directors ran the course as part of a long run today and deemed it unsafe. With no real prospect of temperatures rising we decided at just after lunchtime on Friday to cancel. Fingers crossed we'll be ok for next Saturday. Up to the minute updates will be on our Twitter feed and Facebook wall.
So tomorrow will be a good opportunity to head down the coast to take part in the fabulous Newbiggin By The Sea parkrun!!
Good news parkrunners. We are pleased to announce that we'll be holding a Christmas Day parkrun! It'll start at 9am as always at the rear of the Visitors Centre. Thanks to our dedicated team of Run Directors and Core Volunteers we have enough help on the day to enable us to put the event on. See you on the start line. Don't forget your barcodes!!!
Thanks to parkrun stalwart Nell GAIR for this report!!
"A cold and blustery day greeted 118 runners for Druridge Bays 81st parkrun. Many thanks go to Race Director Ian HARDING and all the volunteers for running another successful event, especially to those who answered a late call for marshals. parkrun relies on the goodwill of the volunteers; volunteering can be such a rewarding experience and seeing the run from another perspective can be an eye opener. If you would like to get involved please email email@example.com or speak to the Run Director on the day.
With conditions suggesting we would be lucky to see a single PB we in fact got 29! Two of those came in the first 10 finishers. Mark SNOWBALL knocked an impressive 14 seconds off his best time coming home as first finisher in 16:46, the 15th time he has crossed the line first! He was followed home by Alastair MACDONALD, who, on his first outing at Druridge Bay, recorded the highest age grading of the day with 78.65%, and Chris SNOWBALL coming home third. Another mention must go to James WILKES coming home in 7th with a PB, his fourth in four outings. This family have had a storming couple of weeks, last week Scott, Jane and George and James all recorded PBs with Scott declaring that the likelihood of that happening again was similar to winning the lottery. Well get those numbers on WILKES family as merely a week later they matched their feat; four runners in the family and four PBs. For the ladies Lorna MACDONALD came home as first finisher for the 6th time in a time of 20:16, with Catriona MACDONALD and Charlotte BASTON completing the first three.
Ian STEPHENSON joined the 50 club with his run on Saturday; congratulations to him- looking forward to seeing you sporting your t-shirt soon. Look out for a few more regulars joining this club in coming weeks.
We would like to extend a warm welcome to the 5 first timers we had on Saturday and we look forward to seeing you all again. Well done to those 3 parkrunners returning to Druridge for their second run and earning themselves a personal best.
See you all on Saturday and #don'tforgetyourbarcode"
It was great to see a well above average 131 runners take part in the 63rd Druridge Bay parkrun on the morning of Saturday 17th October! Many thanks to the brilliant marshals and Run Director Jackie PROUSE. Remember that you can help out by emailing us at the address shown on this website or by speaking to the Run Director at the event on Saturday!
1st finisher in his 1st ever parkrun was Bedford Harrier Peter GRAHAM! Peter clocked 17.49 to make the long trip north well worth it, finishing just over 30 seconds ahead of Alnwick Harriers Adam FLETCHER. Adam finished in 18.23 and was the 1st of 4 runners to achieve 80+% WAVA scores. Next home was Morpeths Tim MILEY in a course pb of 18.42, whilst Alnwick Harrier Peter GREY was 4th in a course pb of 18.57. Peters time gave secured him the male 55 course record! Well done Peter! Also amongst the personal bests on the day were Andrew GIBBON, Ollie TELFER, Neil HAMILTON and Andrew HEWITT!
For the ladies the 1st finisher for the 5th time, thus making her the 2nd most successful female at the event behind her club colleague Rachelle FALLOON, was Blyth RC's Leanne HERRON. Leanne clocked 22.13 to see her finish well clear of another parkrun tourist in Ilkeston RC's Emma BENNETT. Next home was another regular, Justine NORMAN of Alnwick Harriers, in a course pb of 23.16. Again good conditions meant that others securing personal bests included Becky DUNPHY, Miriam CUMMINS and Daniele FORSYTH!
Remember folks that at the end of the month its Halloween! So we'd like to see as many runners as possible donning scary costumes and hideous masks!
See you on Saturday folks!

Well done to the 97 runners who took part in the Druridge Bay parkrun on a murky Saturday 10th October. And of course many thanks to all the marshals who helped out on the day, including those who helped out at the last minute to fill one or two of the vacant marshal spots!
Despite taking part in the Sherman Cup cross country fixture later in the day one of our Run Directors Ian HARDING came along to warm up. He warmed up with just a 16.31 5k! Ian has now been 1st finisher on 8 occasions, joining Rachelle FALLOON on the same number, and finished about 90 seconds ahead of his nearest rival. Simon SHERIDAN of west Glasgow club Garscube Harriers was 2nd finisher in 18.06, whilst Craig BATSON was next in 18.56. Due to the still conditions pbs were achieved by a number of our regular runners including Neil McANANY, Cris ATWELL, Carlos WERNER and Evan FALKOUS!
For the ladies 1st finisher and the highest WAVA score of the day was achieved by Carole PAGE. Carole finished in 22.31 and achieved a brilliant 80.38% score. 2nd finisher was Ali LIDDLE in 23.42, whilst Alnwick Harriers youngster Sophie ENSER was 3rd female in a course pb. Other regulars to score pbs included Frankie WILSON, Kymala THORNTON, Lorna STEPHENSON and regular helper Claire STEVENS!
See you all next week for more parkrun fun.
The DB parkrun Team.
A brilliant 137 runners took part in the 61st Druridge Bay parkrun on Saturday 3rd October, another figure which helped our average go up to 115 runners per week! Well done to the marshals and to the Run Director on the day Jenna MOFFAT!
Continuing his impressive record of 5 1st finishes in his 6 appearances at the event Morpeth Harrier Ryan GREEN was 1st home in 17.47. This time gave Ryan the best WAVA score by a male on the day, 75.91%, and saw him finish nearly a minute ahead of one of his clubmates. Mark SNOWBALL was next to finish, ahead of Unattached youngster Craig MUTER who ran a course personal best of 19.32. Other than Craig personal best times were achieved by Paul WILLIS, Shane FORSTYH, Andrew THORN and Ben REED amongst others!
For the ladies Unattached Jo HARROP was 1st across the line in a course personal best of 21.40. She was 2 seconds ahead of her training partner Karen KELLY of Alnwick Harriers, who also ran a pb. 3rd finisher was another Alnwick runner in the shape of Pauline AITCHISON, who finished in a course best time of 22.33. Again a load of our regulars ran personal best times including Jenny BOLAM, Ali LIDDLE, Jilly BELL and Sue ROCHESTER. The best WAVA score of the day was by Elswick Harrier Marie DROZDOWICZ whose 23.08 gave her a score of 77.23%.
As many of you may be aware Halloween falls on parkrun day this year, 31st October!! As we did last year why not come along in scary costumes to run or marshal on the day?
Till next week, bye!!
The DB parkrun Team.
