See you all at The Dell.
Just a quick note to say that Dudley parkrun will be back and running for our first event of 2020 this Saturday, 4th Jan.
We're hoping to see lots of new faces, and hopefully a few old ones too!
New year, new you?
It's a cliché, but many of us will be setting ourselves goals and challenges for the new year, and often these are around our health and wellbeing.
At Dudley parkrun, we think you're great as you are, but if you are looking for a friendly, inclusive place to get some weekly exercise and have some time outside, then we could be just the people to provide just that.
We are a weekly, volunteer led event that takes place at The Dell stadium in Brierley Hill every Saturday at 9am. It's a 5 km (3.1 mile) event that follows a lovely, fully sign-posted course where you'll encounter canal tow-paths, wooded paths, and even athletics track. The course is fully marshalled by our wonderful volunteers and we have tail walkers who make sure that no-one finishes last.
What's even better is that the event is completely free, all you need to do is register online, bring a printed copy of your barcode that you get at registration and throw on a pair of shoes that you can walk 3 miles in. It's that simple.
We have a broad range of people at the event, ranging in age from 8 to over 80, and people are encouraged to finish the event in their own time and at their own pace. Whilst our first finisher may complete the course in under 20 minutes, our tail walkers will often finish at over 50 minutes. Everyone is welcome to run, walk or jog at a pace they want to.
We also lucky to have great facilities at The Dell, free car parking, toilets, a warm and dry clubroom and, most importantly, a café for well-deserved post-event drink and a chat with fellow runners, walkers and volunteers.
If you’d like to hear more or have any questions then drop us a message, email us (firstname.lastname@example.org) or comment below. Or why not just pop up on a Saturday morning? We have a first timers briefing at 8:50am where you can find out all you need to know.
We can’t want to see you in 2020.
After the roaring success of the last kit swap, we are running another in the build-up to Christmas.
The idea is simple, a good few of us have got old kit that’s in great condition but is either to big/small or you just don’t like it anymore. Bring it along and we well try and find it a better home. And those of us who fancy some new to you kit can come and help yourself to whatever you fancy. Last time we had some very, very nice bit of gear donated to us, at least some of which seemed brand new.
All un-taken kit will be given to charity, and you’re welcome to give an entirely voluntary donation to The Happy Cafe if you do take any kit, they distribute all donations to local charities.
If you'd like any more info on the above then please feel free to drop us a message.
