The start of advent produced a picture postcard scene at Dukeries junior parkrun. Cold and frosty conditions did not put off our enthusiastic 13 juniors who ran, jogged and walked our 2k course.
A new record was set for the furthest tourist to visit Dukeries juniors with Isaac coming all of the way from Manchester. We hope that Isaac had a fantastic time and we hope that he will return in the future. We love junior parkrun tourism, so if you have any family or friends from far and wide, let them know about us!!!
Felix did an amazing job ensuring that all of our juniors were fully warmed up before heading to the start. All of our juniors were amazing again this morning. Logan H was the first finisher recording a time of 08:34 with James H coming in next with a time of 09:00. Well done to everyone who completed the course this morning, you are all superstars. We had 2 first timers this morning; a big shout out to Sam B and Isaac W.
This morning’s event could not have happened had it not been for our amazing volunteer team who give up their time to ensure that the event could take place. A big shout out to our 16 high-vis heroes for doing an amazing job this morning. It was lovely to welcome several new volunteers to our team, those being Kim, Dom and Lydia. It was also a pleasure to have several juniors sporting taking their turn to be a high-vis hero. We hope that you enjoyed volunteering and will return to wear a high-vis in the near future.
Dukeries junior parkrun is back at 8.45am on Sunday 8th December. We hope that you will join us again. If you would like to join our volunteer team, please send us an e-mail and we will add you to our volunteer roster. We are a friendly bunch and we meet at the Dukeries Leisure Centre straight after the event for a drink and a chat. Everyone is welcome.
We look forward to seeing you all again soon
