26 amazing juniors and 14 high-vis heroes made it a memorable first event of the New Year (and decade!!) at Dukeries junior parkrun. There was an atmosphere of pure excitement as our juniors began to arrive. The weather was perfect and our juniors were ready to embark on their first junior parkrun of 2020.
Felix did an amazing job ensuring that all of our juniors were fully warmed up before heading to the start. All of our juniors were amazing again this morning. Daniel A was the first finisher recording a time of 08:21 with Isabel W coming in next with a time of 09:08. Well done to everyone who completed the course this morning, you are all superstars. We had an incredible 12 first timers this morning; a big shout out to all of the newcomers to Dukeries junior parkrun.
Well done to both Dagan and Bryce who received their half marathon wristband this morning; a great effort from both.
There was a sense of achievement on the approach to the finishing funnel with both parents and volunteers cheering our juniors on their final approach to the funnel. It was refreshing to see everyone out enjoying themselves.
This morning’s event could not have happened had it not been for our amazing volunteer team who give up their time to ensure that the event could take place. A big shout out to our 14 high-vis heroes for doing an amazing job this morning. We hope that you enjoyed volunteering and will return to wear a high-vis in the near future.
Dukeries junior parkrun is back at 9.00am on Sunday 12th January. The first timers briefing takes place at 8.55am. We hope that you will join us again. If you would like to join our volunteer team, please send us an e-mail and we will add you to our volunteer roster. We are a friendly bunch and we meet at the Dukeries Leisure Centre straight after the event for a drink and a chat. Everyone is welcome.
We look forward to seeing you all again soon
