Apologies everyone, but due to the ongoing police investigation we are again going to have to cancel this Saturday, 14th September.
Special apologies to anyone staying in the area who was hoping to come to us before the GNR on Sunday.
Newcastle parkrun is also cancelled, but there are many other parkruns in the area now which softens the blow slightly.
Hope to see all the regulars next week and hope GNR visitors staying in Durham can find another local run and try us again next year, when we may even be back on our first choice Maiden Castle to Bandstand route.
IMPORTANT - Durham parkrun cancelled 14th July 2012
It is with regret that I have to announce that this week's parkrun is cancelled. We would already have been running on the alternative course as the regular course is unavailable due to the Miner's Gala, but unfortunately after the recent downpour (see pics below) the playing fields and cricket pitch have become waterlogged and we have agreed with Maiden Castle not to use them.
I am sure you will be as disappointed as I am, especially given that we managed to run all through the winter.
Please consider visiting another local parkrun at Sedgefield, Sunderland, Newcastle, Gateshead, Whitley Bay, Redcar, Tees Barrage, (Stockton) or Stewart and Albert parks, (Middlesbrough). If you do, Don't Forget Your Barcode!
Again apologies, and hope to see you as normal on 21st July.
Hi, next week - Saturday 2nd June 2012 we're going to have a Diamond Jubilee themed parkrun. Please wear Red, White and Blue.
It's also a special occasion for us - Brian Cowell will be our first regular Durham parkrunner to complete 100 parkruns.
Lastly, the cafe isn't open because of the bank holiday weekend, so no bacon butties etc, so please can you bring some stuff (cakes, soft drinks, sweets etc) and we'll have a celebratory buffet in the cafe area (centre and toilets will still be open).
After much discussion Durham parkrun is back on as normal at 9am and the University Charity Run will take part at 10am over the same course. If you would like to enter the Charity Run there's a flyer here it costs £3 and all proceeds go to Sport in Action Zambia. It takes place over the same course as Durham parkrun.
We're also looking for volunteers to help them marshal the course - if you can help out i'm sure they would be very grateful. We'll also need some helpers to bring our signage back in after their event.
Durham University offer their facilities to us free of charge every Saturday morning for parkrun and it would be nice to show our appreciation of that by supporting them with their Charity 5K.
You're all invited to take part in that, but will need to apply and pay the charity fee. I'll provide further details of this as they become available. Obviously there are also the parkruns at Sunderland, Newcastle and Middlesbrough (and hopefully more too by then!)
