Christmas Day and New Year’s Day runs – forward planning!

We know it's a little early to be talking about Christmas and New Year, but every year, when these days fall on a day that isn't Saturday, parkrun give us the option to have extra runs on these days.

We are delighted to announce that Elgin parkrun will be going ahead on both Christmas Day and New Year's Day this year. Christmas Day will be a 9:30am start as normal. New Year's Day will start at 11:00am - please note the later start time (and please be conscious of laws regarding driving and alcohol)!

Of course we will, as always, need to have a full volunteer roster for both events in order to go ahead, so we will be putting a shout out nearer the time - our Run Directors are ready! Contact us in the usual way (email - elgin@parkrun.com) to put your name down.

Christmas and New Year parkruns at Elgin

Hi all, a quick note about the upcoming holiday period.  We are intending to hold extra parkruns on both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day (the only days of the year we can hold extra events).  Full details to be finalised as soon as possible.  This may well include a slightly later start on New Year’s Day – so you don’t risk drink drive issues in the morning!

As per normal parkrun days these extra runs will rely upon having enough volunteers to deliver a fun and safe parkrun for all in attendance.  Please sign up in advance for these or any other Saturday runs by emailing us at elginhelpers@parkrun.com

In other news - we have over 2000 parkrunners registered with Elgin as their “home” parkrun.  However when we send out a reminder email it only seems to be going to 250 or so.  This is because the reminder emails are automatically sent to all runners who have opted in to receive these messages.  Please check your profile and tick the opt in to emails option.

Go to this week’s newsletter email – scroll down to bottom where it says “my profile” – click on that tab and then on the tab marked “email options” and select the “opt in” option for Elgin.

That way we can keep you up to date about volunteer opportunities and also let you know of any cancellations as we head into the winter months.

Festive season

Just a quick note to say that we WILL be having extra runs on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

We will be on the look out for volunteers as usual - so why not start the festive season with a parkrun - and start 2017 with a parkrun too.
