We celebrate milestones in parkrun more than anything else. 8 people ran their first ever parkrun this weekend. Thanks for making Falkirk your first and, as I said at the briefing, it's unlikely this'll be your last.
William Mcaulay ran his 50th which means he'll soon be sporting one of our great red 50 t-shirts, Andrew Grant ran his 99th which means next time he runs he'll enter the parkrun century club with a black t-shirt for his troubles.
What often goes unnoticed is volunteer shifts. Actually that's not completely true, we often notice when people aren't there because we're so used to them being there. Take Syd Thomson who has clocked up 140 weekends taking photos at Falkirk parkrun (and goodness knows how many hours editing them). Or Andy Moodie who's currently sitting on 328 shifts over the past 8 years - that's the equivalent of 6 and a bit years of continuous service!
The man who's topping the table though is Spikey, our Event Director, who achieved 350 volunteer shifts this weekend. If you've never met him or spoken to him, he's the one proudly wearing the special t-shirt we made up for his 250th. We're pretty sure he's washed it in the past 2 years.
To them and the countless others who regularly give up their time at the weekend, and hopefully haven't offended by not mentioning them, we say thanks. We treat everyone the same regardless of how many volunteer shifts you've clocked up or how many runs you've completed. Sometimes it's nice to recognise individual acts of dedication which let's us all escape our regular lives for a few hours at the weekend.
