Felixstowe parkrun #61 Run Report

This week we had our amazing Event Director, Sarah FITCH taking on the role as our RD, and she was busy in the week to make sure everything was ready for our awesome parkrun at Felixstowe. With everything reset and charged, we were ready to go....

We had a lovely 253 of you participating in the course this week, with it being our 16th most attended event (coincidentally this is 61 backwards, which is our event number). We welcomed the 10 brand new to parkrun people and also the 29 people who, although had done parkrun before, hadn't done Felixstowe parkrun (hello tourists) - further details can be found below. A staggering 53 of you managed to get a PB, making up over 20% of the participants today - impressive work everyone.

We would like to remind everyone that we do not have sole use of the seafront, and we should be mindful of non-parkrunners who are out for a walk or whatever non-parkrun activity they are up to. Remember to keep to the right and allow everyone enough space. Before we set off at 9am, please stay out of the marked off area on the sea side of the prom, as this path allows non-parkrunners to get past safely.

Our first male finisher, Jason MARTER, came in at 18:05. This is the second time he has been first finisher at Felixstowe and overall he has done 6 with us.
Our first female finisher was Philippa UNTHANK in a time of 18:38. This is the 19th time she's held this position and she still holds our female course record. She also had the highest age grade this week at 80.32%. Today she also claimed the age grade record for the SW18-19 age group, whilst also holding the record in the JW15-17 group too.

Felixstowe parkrun #59 Run Report

Oh it's so nice seeing everyone complete their 5km at Felixstowe parkrun each week, and this week was no exception. Our RD for event #59 was Caroline STAFFORD, who got everything prepared behind the scenes (from making sure we have enough volunteers to ensuring our barcode scanners have enough battery juice - although not just that) ready for our 9am start on the 25th May 2019.

Felixstowe parkrun

We had our 8th most attended event with 280 of you finishing parkrun today, which include 8 of you doing your first ever parkrun and a huge 42 of you doing your first Felixstowe parkrun but have completed parkrun elsewhere (see names below). We even saw 58 of you obtain a PB today (I'll happily eat 58 slices of cake myself to celebrate). Still no milestones to report this week, but as our course is now just over a year old, I'm expecting to see some of our regulars hitting the '50' mark soon.

Felixstowe parkrun

Just a quick reminder that parkrun does have a strict rule, and it only requires you as the parkrunner to remember one thing. You will need to bring along your printed barcode (not on your phone). You can print off your barcode at home, even laminate it if you want it to last longer. Alternative, you can visit the parkrun Barcode shop and get either a key ring, a credit card sized plastic card or even a wrist band, all which will be accepted.

If you forget it, you won't get a time. You can attend without a barcode, so if you have forgotten it you may still join in, but you will appear as an 'unknown' runner on the results.

'No printed barcode - No result'

Whilst we are talking about reminders, please be careful when you are going around the marshals on the turnaround points. It's best not to go around too sharply so that you avoid slipping over, we like people to come back in one piece :)
