Barney Memorial 5k @ Ferry Meadows (Weds 13th Aug – 7pm)

This coming Wednesday (13th Aug) @ 7pm from the Watersports Centre at Ferry Meadows is the 'Barney Memorial 5K' held in memory of NVH stalwart and Club Chairman Mike Barnsdale who sadly lost his battle with cancer, after a short illness 3 years ago and is also the pre cursor for the 5K & 3K GP Series presentations.

Oundle Magnificent Ten – 28th Sept

A fantastic 10km multi-terrain race starting and finishing in the beautiful National Trust grounds at Lyveden New Bield, Oundle, Peterborough.

The course follows woodland paths, trails and farm track providing a challenging route in stunning countryside (see 'Race Info' page for the a course map and directions to get there).

Huntingdon 10K Run and 3K Run with 1K Fun Run Sunday -15th June 2014

Held at Alconbury Weald, Little Stukeley Huntingdon PE28 4WX.

Huntingdon 10K and 3K chip timed

Huntingdon 10K is a multi terrain race with the majority off road. Starting on the old disused runway and continuing off onto bridleways and field onto Great Stukeley where it returns back to the runway. Runners aged 15+.

3K (aged 9yrs +) and 1K (aged 5 years +) are held on the old runway.

Cost: 10K - £15 (unaffiliated runners) £13 (affiliated runners), 3K £5, and 1K £5.

Open to all ages and abilities, £200 prize for the first male and first female to break the existing course record by a minimum of 30 seconds.

Mayor of Huntingdon’s Charity 5 Mile Race and Junior 1.5 Mile race – 21/4/14

Easter Monday 21st April, 10am start for Juniors (1.5miles) and 11am for Seniors (15 and over) (5 miles), both races chip timed.

Race HQ: Jubilee Park, Kings Ripton Road, Huntingdon, PE28 2NR.

All off road, juniors around the football field, and seniors out on to the field edges between Kings Ripton Road and Abbots Ripton Road. Refreshments in the Football Club, along with toilets, showers, changing rooms and secure baggage. Plenty of parking, but lift share is always a good plan.

Cost £10 for seniors, (attached) £12 (unattached); £5 for juniors.

Eye 10K and 3K Family Fun Run – Sunday 11th May 2014

Entries are now open for this years Eye 10k and 3k Family Fun Run which will take place on Sunday 11th May. Full details, including the usual on line entry at no extra cost, are available at

This will be the 14th time the event has been staged with no increase in entry costs.

The cyclists amongst you may also be interested in the 3rd edition of the Marholm Sportive which will take place on Sunday 18th May, starting and finishing at Marholm Village Hall, near Peterborough. Marked routes of 50, 70 and 100 miles are available for this charity fund raising event, again being organised by the Peterborough 5x5 Challenge team.

Finally a mention of the Green Wheel Relay which this year has been brought forward from its September date to Sunday 22nd June. This is a seven stage running relay over forty eight miles following the Peterborough Green Wheel Route, starting and finishing on the Embankment near the City Centre. Full details available at


2014 Peterborough 5km Grand Prix Series – Dates announced

The dates for the 2014 Peterborough 5km Grand Prix Series have been confirmed across five Wednesday evenings in June and July. For those who do not know, these are organised by the local clubs and all are entry on the evening with a momento if you take part in at least 3 races and anyone is welcome to take part whether a member of a club or not and it is a great place to meet like minded people.

  • 4th June 2014 - Water Sports Centre, Ferry Meadows. Hosted by Nene Valley Harriers.
  • 18th June 2014 - Lindisfarne Road, Eye. Hosted by Eye Community Runners.
  • 2nd July 2014 - Water Sports Centre, Ferry Meadows. Hosted by Thorney Running Club.
  • 16th July 2014 - Rugby Club, Hambleton Road, Stamford. Hosted by Stamford Striders.

Thorney 10K and Fun Runs – 23rd March 2014 – Entries Open

Entries are now open for this event based at Bedford Hall, Thorney.

A flat and fast fenland course with the 10K starting at 10.30am and Fun Run (1K, 2K & 3K) @ 9.15am. Recommended 2K maximum for under 9's.

Ideal if you are looking to make the step up from the parkrun to a paid event, increase your distance and challenge yourself.
