Forest of Dean parkrun Lockdown Event 30: 17th October 2020: Oranges aren’t the only fruit!

Today 66 mates got out of bed on a crisp, cool, autumnal morning to walk, jog, run or volunteer at our Virtual parkrun. No new faces this week and just four people have the accolade of PB after their time today.
Huge congratulations to Tony (they just keep coming ) May, Craig (Top Poster) Cameron, Vikki (I've got my own little pacer) Wilson and Vikki (Sub 26 and some) Hewlett.
The forest looked stunning this morning. There was little evidence of our mud and puddles, but the canopy was awash with colour and the floor was carpeted in leaves. Wits had to be sharp to pick out the trail and avoid those sneakily covered roots and hazards.  It was indeed, great fun to be out and about and at one with nature at such a colourful time of year.
Most people got the script for today's fruit theme but some took a bit of license such as Graham, Blood Orange James with his dodgy orange shoes whilst Peter CJ had a bit on the side

Forest of Dean parkrun Lockdown Event 29: 10th October 2020: Lemon Entry my Dear Watson.

The mystery of how many parkmates would join us at Event 29 was solved by 10 o'clock. There were a few deer stalkers in the swamp today in amongst the 66 parkthletes (Noun: One who runs, jogs, walks or volunteers at parkrun, (not) parkrun or virtual parkrun) who got out of bed on a crisp, autumnal  morning for the start of the Citrus Challenge and there were no newcomers, not a one, zip, zero, nada.
It was, however, a colourful turnout as plenty of people responded to the challenge by sporting something yellow and commemorating World Mental Health Day in the process. There were hats, gloves, socks, shorts tops and jackets aplenty. Thank you
Birthday girl Anna Freeman ran with a socially distanced group to celebrate a special number and was joined by someone who didn't get the script regarding outfit but sounded as though he had been sucking on lemons to start the day :-)
A lucky seven people get to put PB next to their result today. Well done to Debbie Green, Emma Bevan, Mark Evans, Mark Mathews, Mike Chard, Tony May and Vikki Hewlett, most  of whom to be making a habit of getting mentioned here!

There were some presents for the birthday girl

Forest of Dean parkrun Lockdown Event 28: 3rd Octobearber 2020: Teddy Bears Picnic

If you went down to the woods today...there was a tree down on the triangle at the pond but no teddy bears were injured. 59 brave, hardy, stupid, wet, soggy, dedicated, mad, enthusiastic, happy, committed, mental, cheerful, insane, zany, obsessive, compulsive, ecstatic, manic, wonderful parkmates made it out the door this morning to walk, jog, run, take part in our 28th lockdown event. Thank you. The virtual London Marathon is tomorrow and many of our regulars are resting p before running, in what look like even more testing conditions, tomorrow. Understandable guys and good luck.
Our four first timers were : Andy Oakes, Andy Jennings and,  Maria and Cooper Cassells. (I do like an Oxford comma: discuss)
PBs were hard to come by in these conditions but four were notched up by: Emma (I'm now sub 36) Jennings, Harry (I'm waiting for mum and dad) Parsons, Mark(13 seconds improvement isn't unlucky) Evans and Vikki (That's another 31 seconds) Hewlett. Well done everyone. We thought there was one more, by Hannah (Not just sub 28, but sub 27) Hardinge, but it was a recording error. Soon Hannah, soon.
I am happy to report that you all took safeguarding quite seriously and I've heard no reports of casualties on the soft toy/teddy/mascot front.
It was drier in Pegasus so a picnic was organised by Mr Mac while our own Mr Mac(Mc) was monkin' around

I'm glad so many managed to join in and have a bit of fun on this cold, wet and challenging day. Thanks for keeping us going.
The committee haven't decided on next week's theme so if you want to help/get involved, drop us your ideas on the fb post or email the office.

Forest of Dean parkrun Lockdown Event 26: 19th September 2020: My lucky Number

All quiet on the western front of the forest today with a small but perfectly formed group of 63 parkmates walking, jogging, running or volunteering, on a virtual course, none of whom were first timers and eight of whom recorded a PB. Event 26 had members of quite a few clubs join in and some of them weren't even athletic :-)
The new personal records this week were recorded by: Andrew (Yes I'm back) Knott, Chris (I'm getting to like this) Mason, Julian (I'm in on time) Boon, Martina (I'm sub 31) Mitchard, Michael (Mr. Speedometer) Flannery, Robin (That's 80%+ age grade) Drewett , Gregory (Me too) Bailey and Stephanie (Don't stop me now) Needs. Well done all. Robin, where is that course? :-)
Some good numbers out there on display today. Three for the price of one from Debbie, Jan and Claire and there's only one Gregory Bailey

Thanks for keeping up with the themes guys. It's great to see you all taking part and maintaining our sense of community. Talking of which: our resident Womble, Jacqui Wynds, normally runs a coffee morning for Macmillan every year and this year is no different. Next week we ask everyone to wear it GREEN and post pictures as you RAISE A MUG when we join in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. I'm sure we'll find a way to get some creatively donated funds to Jacqui to show our support. You know where we are :-)
Have a great week, stay safe and we hope to see you out there next Saturday.
