Event #96 – The one with spooks and ghouls

Our Halloween themed event was a hit with all 45 participants on Sunday, which I'm sure had nothing to do with the treats given out after everyone has passed through the haunted finish funnel.

Finish Funnel

We had 5 PB's being set at the event, including our first finisher who was also celebrating their birthday. Happy Birthday! And we welcomed 3 first timers to parkrun, we hope you enjoyed it and will be back next weekend.

Some of those who come frequently earned their milestone wristbands. You get these for running 11,21 and 50 junior parkruns, . Once you have reached this achievement you receive a wristband, and on your parkrun profile is a link to be able to print a certificate. Congratulations to Rithwik, Emi, Nischal, Jasmine and Reha on earning their marathon wristbands.

We had a fabulous warm up led by Brandon getting us ready to run, walk and skip around the course which was a little muddy but no body seemed to mind.

We are fast approaching our 100th event and also our second birthday so keep your eyes peeled for what special things we have planned to celebrate.

See you all soon for the next Forest Rec junior parkun, and don't forget your barcode.

Event #76 The muggy one

Rockin' the hi-vis!

Rockin' the hi-vis!

Thanks to all the children, mums and dads and volunteers who joined us this morning for a very muggy junior parkrun. Not the ideal climate for running today but you were all fantastic.

2Jun19 Heather RD

Heather was our Run Director this morning and she was delighted to welcome two new parkrunners, doing their very first parkrun. Four more children collected their blue wristbands for taking part in 11 events, which equals a half-marathon. Brilliant! You get a green wristband when you've done 21 events - equalling a marathon, then an orange 'ultra-marathon' wristband when you reach 50. Make sure you let us know if you've reached one of these milestones.

Charlotte was our warm-up leader today, then it was off to the start. Here's a great photo of our tail-walkers, Amelia and Euan, swishing their tails with style.

Well done to all our runners today, your smiles and enthusiasm make it all worth while. We hope to see you all next week.

Event#75 A soggy one

The rain just couldn't hold off any longer, and everyone got a little soggy at this weeks event. But no one's spirits were dampened and everyone still put in a fantastic effort, Marshalls and runners alike. I estimate a thousand high fives were given out, and I know that we had 6 first timers, choosing to run their first ever parkrun with us, thank you and I really hope you enjoyed it. We had tourists from Hilly Fields and Gedling and those visiting family for the holidays, welcome runners, we hope you enjoyed our course. And a phenomenal 16! new personal bests, if we add in the first timers, as that's also their personal best, that's 22 PB's achieved. It certainly seems like slightly soggy makes for perfect running conditions.
We need to give a huge thank you to our volunteers who make this parkrun possible every week, they were: Teresa ADAMS, Daniel BURTON, Tim CLARKE, Sam CLARKE, Charlie COOK, Heather DUFFY, Ryan FRAKE, Bob FRAKE, Glenn HANCOCK, Natalie HOLMES, Charlotte ROWATT, Ian SULLIVAN, Zoia WAINWRIGHT, Linda WOODINGS, Helen YATES

Event #74 Beans, beans and more beans!

Thanks to all our lovely runners, Mums and Dads and volunteers for coming along to Junior Parkrun this morning. You were all brilliant and so enthusiastic.

19May19 volunteers

The weather was perfect for running today and our hi-vis volunteers were impressed with the super-speediness of the runners going past them and collecting high fives.

19May19 start line

We handed over to Charlotte to do our bean themed warm-up. We pretended to be broad beans, baked beans, runner beans, mexican beans, jumping beans, tall beans (!?), jelly beans and french beans (ooh la la!). Great fun.

19May19 tailwalkers

Warm up finished, Charlotte multi-tasked by donning her unicorn outfit to tail-walk along with Jeanie, who rocked the leopard look with her matching sunglasses. Thank you both.

If you'd like to help by volunteering next week please email us. It's the bank holiday weekend so some of our regulars are away.

See you all next week, and remember to eat your beans!
