We were a little nervous at Forest Rec Junior parkrun HQ on the morning of Sunday 24th February. We couldn't see the start, or the marshall points or even high five corner. We had a bad case of fog. We couldn't even see the start tree.
But we were determined to go ahead, and lots of lovely volunteers came forward to help. I think the opportunity to wear the hi viz vests and collect all the hi fives helped persuade them. Placing themselves at previously unused marshall points, they enabled us to see you, you to see the course and for a safe event to go ahead. A big thank you to all our volunteers who make parkrun possible every weekend. This weekend they were Kevin BOWEN, Stephen DICKENS, Ryan FRAKE, Bob FRAKE, Euan FRASER, Amelia FRASER, Richard HARLAND, Natalie HOLMES, Frazer HOOD, Helen HOOD, Finlay HOOD, Jo MORLING, Emma MOULDS, Lawrence PONT, Charlotte ROWATT, Eve SAVAGE, Heather SEVERN.
So after all the last minute changes, a slightly later than usual start and a fantastic warmup with Helen, we headed to the start, which was now bathed in glorious sunshine as the fog had lifted!
34 parkrunners made their way around the two lap course, 2 for the first time, and 13 getting PB's. That's amazing and we hope you all enjoyed the event. We have a special mention to Isabella and Erin who both received their blue wristbands in recognition of their participation. Don't forget that you can get your accompanying certificate from the club progress link on your parkrun profile.
We look forward to seeing you soon, and don't forget your barcode!
Happy running from the Forest Rec Junior parkrun team
