Run Report Frickley Country parkrun

Frickley Country parkrun
Event number 63
14th March 2020

Another great week at Frickley Country parkrun, the rain has stopped, the paths are drying out and the Landtrust/Groundwork are planning to re-surface the worn out path areas, so the parkrun will be even better.

This week we have had 64 people who ran, jogged and walked the course. We were very pleased to see Phil Chambers had returned for his second parkrun at Frickley, if you can finish the course at Frickley, then any parkrun in the world is achievable. Great work Phil. It was lovely to see Kayleigh and Michael Storey finish their first parkrun ever, together-what a great couple. Hannah Snart! 1st ever parkrun. You slipped under the my radar! Welcome to parkrun, Great work.  There were 10 people who recorded a personal best. Lewis You were amazing-a personal best, excellent work your new pacing technique has worked. Your mum and Leanne were so proud of you. Nicky Budding-Great work a new PB, you are flying!

Representatives of 13 different clubs took part.

#IWD Wear Purple and Celebrate International Women’s Day at Frickley Country parkrun

The 8th March is International Women's Day and parkrun UK are celebrating International Women's Day (IWD) on Saturday 7th March on parkrun day. We are encouraging more women and girls to join us at Frickley Country parkrun. We are encouraging everyone to dress up with a 'purple' theme and encourage all women and girls to help us celebrate this important day for women and girls across the world.

New Years Day 2020 ‘Double’ Frickley Country parkrun

Great news!! Here at Frickley we will be hosting an additional event on New Years Day. This is a great opportunity to get some extra runs in over the festive period and work off some of the party season excess. We will be hosting a New Years Day parkrun at 10.30am and we have heard from a 'little bird' that other local parkruns will be holding theirs at a time which enables a double bubble!!

Frickley Country parkrun: Event number 35: 7th September 2019

This week 142 people ran, jogged and walked the course. We welcomed Ackworth Road Runners (ARR) to Frickley, with over 70 members running today as part of their Grand Prix (GP) events. (The GP is an internal year-long competition, where various races/runs are identified and form part of the GP. Members attend and get points for participating). Hope you enjoyed yourselves (at least afterwards) and thank you for choosing us.

Furthest distance for a tourist has to go to Larry Webb, who joined us from Toronto, Canada, for his first ever parkrun. Welcome to parkrun Larry, here’s hoping you are able to do a few more local ones (and looking at parkrun Canada, you seem to have a reasonable choice of parkruns within the Greater Toronto Area if you fancy it J )

We had lots of personal bests (45 in all) – Simon Newton our first finisher achieving a Frickley course PB. We also had an unofficial milestone of 300 parkruns achieved by Georgie Newton – very well done to all of you!

I do have a couple of unknowns; one at finish position 27 with a time of 23:53, and a second one at position 129 with a time of 39:25. If you haven’t received a results email or text, or recognise yourself as either of these, please let me know and I can update the results! I will need your name and barcode number so feel free to send via messenger if you prefer.

The event was made possible by 25 fantastic volunteers and I could not have been a happier Run Director today. Thank you everyone for joining us! J
