This is to let you know that we'll be taking a 4 week break over the Summer. Our last run before the break will take place on 5th August as usual. We're then taking a 4-week break from running at Goudhurst until we return on the 9th of Septemeber.
This is to allow our core volunteer group some time to take their holidays etc..
We are currently a small group of volunteers, so if a couple of us have commitments at the same time it makes it difficult for us to field a team, we just don't have the numbers. This is what is happening over the Summer break. The rules of parkrun Head Office mean we have to have at least three volunteers scheduled for any run to go ahead.
We always welcome volunteers, and increasing our numbers means we'll be less likely to have to cancel any future events.
If you're available to help out anytime from 9th September onwards we'd love to hear from you. Just drop us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and put "Volunteer" in the title.
Volunteering is easy. Just let us know which week(s) you can come, and if you have a preference for a role. There are many roles you can do: timing and scanning (both very easy), handing out the tokens as the runners cross the finish (great fun!), general marshalling (stand at a point around the course and cheer the runners on). There's even a role where you can run alongside your child around the whole course! So, something for everyone. Have a look at the "Volunteer" tab and see our future roster for a full list of roles you can help with. We can't do it without you!
Our core volunteer team is currently: Paul, Penny, Kev, and Kate. It would be great if we could add your name to the list!
If you think you'll miss your parkrun fix whilst we're on our break, I'll remind you that the Saturday 5k run at Bedgebury is a beautiful course. Remember though, if you're under 11 you'll need a responsible adult to run it with you.
