The Windy One…

Event #349

Photo 17-03-2019, 08 34 59

Gav was at the helm today in blustery conditions! Following last week's cancelation due to predicted high winds the RD team shared a post explaining how we approach this decision. There was plenty of feedback and we really appreciate the support we received, it's clear that safety is paramount and great to see that so many of our participants can see that.  We are always disappointed if we do need to cancel, but often the decision needs to be taken.  If you missed the post you can find it here... Graves cancellations due to weather

We were also pushed this week in terms of numbers of volunteers, there were several emails out to those signed up for notification as well as several facebook appeals, at one point we were short of the minimum number of volunteers required to hold the event! If you've never volunteered before, or are not signed up to receive volunteer emails from us, please have a look at the volunteering page for Graves and get in touch to help out... http://www.parkrun.org.uk/graves/volunteer/

Over the next few weeks we'll be writing in this report, and on facebook, about the main volunteering roles, how they all combine to produce such a great event all over the world every Saturday and some of the common queries and questions we get following each event.

An especially big thank you to this weeks volunteers… Magdalena BOO, Jack COLLIER, Andes GEIGER, Stephen GILMER, Sarah HUDSON, Michael JONES, Charlie LAST, Finley LAWSON, Jill MARSTON-GIROUX, Catherine MCKEOWN, Zoe MILLS, Dan MURPHY, Gavin NEWHOUSE, Robert NICOL, Elizabeth ROWE, Amelia SANDERSON, Sarah SANDERSON, Tom VALENTINE, Eleanor WHITTINGHAM and Elizabeth WOOD

As usual, the event would not run anywhere near as well without the wonderful group of volunteers that Graves parkrun attracts. Please remember it’s easy to volunteer, just leave a message on the Graves parkrun Facebook page or e-mail the Graves team on: graveshelpers@parkrun.com or See our volunteer page for details on getting involved in making Graves parkrun happen.

Thanks to Catherine MCKEOWN for this weeks photo!
