Please note that this Saturday 31st July 2021 the sports centre and cafe will be closed.
Parking is available on the beach car park accessed via Wells Hall Road (there is a sign for TGS) and going forward we will be using this car park only due to the main car park sometimes being used as a covid test centre.

Toilet facilities are still available in the sports centre, again accessed via the Wells Hall road entrance.

New Year’s Day

We will be starting off the New Year at Great Cornard with a later start time of 10:30am so hopefully lots of you can take part in the NYD DOUBLE

New Year Event

It took a bit of wrangling behind the scenes, but eventually we were able to settle who was going to RD on the 1st day of 2019 - so here we go! 10:30 on 1st January will give those most enthusiastic of you to get to Clare Castle and then back again to do the double; what a great way to start 2019??


Christmas and New Year runs

We have a fine record of being able to offer you the extra two runs over the holiday period but this year we are going to restrict ourselves to just the one, on Christmas morning. We will be on site for your Christmassy delight and delictation for a 9.30am run, but with the absolute minimum of volunteers; one RD, one timekeeper, one on finish tokens and a couple of speedy people taking over barcode scanning and tokens if needed, plus one person as keeper of the gate.

It is decidedly possible mince pies will be available on the day but you'll have to come along to find out!

Great Cornard parkrun event #236

Today I had the pleasure of visiting Great Cornard parkrun for the first time the morning after I attended a wedding in the local area.

The wonderful two lap course did not disappoint and it was nice to run mainly on grass which had its green colour back again. Apparently this week we were somewhat light on volunteers but despite this I found the course very well marshalled at all the key points and would not have known. I was welcomed into the Great Cornard 'team' when I arrived pre-run and this continued during the run as we were given a lot of encouraging support from the eager volunteers as we ran around which which always helps. I found the event very well organised by Natalie, who was today's run director, and her wonderful team of volunteers.

Today there were 124 runners who ran, jogged or walked the 5k course and this number nicely goes alongside the fact this was my 241st parkrun.
Including myself, there were 6 first timers who enjoyed a visit to Great Cornard this morning. I hope you enjoyed your experience as much as I did. Two parkrunners completed their first ever parkrun here today so well done to you and we look forward to welcoming you again to parkrun.
There was a milestone for Scott MANNING today who completed his 100 parkrun and on top of that achievement he also managed to bag himself a brand new PB finishing in 2nd place. The quick finish also meant Scott had time to scan some barcodes at the finish too!

Amazingly, 20 of you managed to grab a new PB today which is wonderful considering the warm temperatures we've experienced lately!
