Event #52 6th April 2019

The One with the Missing Runner

A relatively stress free week leading up to my stint as Run Director as the roster was pretty full when I took over from Mark.

As always this event can only take place thanks to the volunteers who give up their time and or a run so the 97 people could run, walk or jog round this week.Hi

During the week we were contacted by the self styled parkrun poet Tim Gardner who wrote a couple of 3 line haiku poems for our event. He is a well known parkrun tourist who writes a short poem or two for each event he visits.

We had a fantastic 32 new PB's this week and 8 people ran Great Dunmow for the first time.

As we have now had over 50 events, I thought I'd have a look to see who might be the first person to reach the 50 milestone run exclusively at Great Dunmow?
I have picked out a couple names, but if you think you will reach this milestone, or any other, and want a mention please contact us.

Pete NORMAN is on 36 runs, all at Dunmow. He first ran at event #6 in 43:47 and got his 14th PB on Saturday in a time of 27:44. A fantastic improvement.
Szabina NEMETH is on 35. Szabina has knocked 5 mins off her first time.
Eileen JOLLY - is on 34 and got a new PB on Saturday, she has now knocked 3 mins off her first run at our very first event.

Thanks to this weeks volunteers:

If you feel inclined, we thoroughly encourage you to come in fancy dress. We got a good turn out last time we did a fancy dress event, so break out the party wear or anything else you fancy coming in.

I now hand over to David who is in the hot seat for our birthday event next week.
