parkrun pause #48 (13th Feb 2021)

(This contains lots of tables, photos and the like - you may want to paste the link into a grown up browser like Chrome as it'll look better)

Twit twoo ;-) Well - that was your Valentines (non) parkrun event. Under normal circumstances (remember those!) there would have been a bit of dressing up to be had; in previous years we've had the MRG gang out in full force and I think that one year Michelle dressed up as black cat and we've had folks dressed in all sorts - I'm off to see if I can find some photos to slot in here!

I found this!! From February 2015! - and no the park wasn't empty! We were all in front of her :-D

This week the weather was maybe a degree or two warmer! But basically still around the freezing your bits off temperature. It didn't however stop 55 of you getting out there to get a least one 5k logged onto the parkrun system - well done you lot!

A great big congratulations to Ed Dawtrey who has not only claimed the first finisher spot but has also bagged himself a new PB to boot - cue big rounds of applause :-)

There's a new name appeared in our results this week....
As Laura Leah Unas with barcode number A6928058 was the last person in the World to register for parkrun (don't ask how we know this stuff!) we're going to take a guess that Hayley Caunt, with barcode A6924051 just some 4,007 registrations earlier decided to register for parkrun, popped on her running shoes and went out for her first (not)parkrun on Saturday with a "feels like" temperature of -8c.

Now I don't know about you, but we think that's pretty cool. Well done you Hayley, you rock.

Annnnnd just a few more interesting Great Notley parkunner totals for you...

495 PB's have been achieved in the (not)parkrun/parkrun paused events
243 of you have taken part in at least one (not)parkrun/parkrun paused event*.
60 of you have taken part in the Great Notley parkrun Treasure Hunt!
59 of you have only ever taken part in just the one (not)parkrun/parkrun paused event :-(
32 of you who have finished MORE (not)parkrun events than "real" parkruns.
17 is the number of you who have NEVER taken part in a "real" parkrun before!
9 of you have taken part in EVERY (not)parkrun/parkrun paused event since we started*.

* First virtual "parkrun paused" event was held in the second week of parkrun being paused, 28th March 2021.

How many of those totals do you fall into?

PB 'Near Misses'
Just the one PB from Ed this week but Matthew Birch was a mere 7 seconds away and take a peek at Acacia's time - just 10 seconds off and big sister Saffy 21 seconds - wonder if there's some sibling rivalry going on there! Keep a close eye on the results over the next few weeks folks things could be hotting up in the Hawkins household ;-)

Treasure Hunt

The treasure hunters are still out in force, 19 of you this week and incredibly no one has yet been escorted off a property, been told off for loitering or asked why they are taking photos of themselves in questionable poses - Yes Len, Jason and Guy I am of course referring to you three in particular this week.

We didn't have an entry from one of our regular contributors this week - poor Martin Gypps has a bad back and it's prevented him from doing very much at all. The Core Team have sent their well wishes and I know that everyone one else will join us when we say we hope that he makes a speedy recovery :-)

Treasure Hunt Bonus Items

**Note to Self** Think very, VERY carefully about your choice of words for future treasure hunts!

So, the word of the week was 'sultry' - Never, did I think it would get the response it did. And as for Jason and his big chopper - well! All I can say is that you lot are incorrigible ;-)

Top scoring went to Michelle :-)

# Treasure Item Bonus Item Bonus Points
SELFA4 A Sultry Selfie ...blowing a kiss or looking romantic (or needing a poo!) +4
ARROW2 An Arrow …that's red +4
COLRD3 Something which is Red ...a post box (reduced points if it was a post vehicle) +4
HEART1 A Heart ...made from natural materials - snow, twigs etc. +4
RDSGN6 A Street Sign ...that was either the word valentine or love (slight reduction if it had the letters but not in the right order!). +4

No postbox for the Hawkins but they found the post van laden down with cards!
Hawkins treasure

We luuurve the Healey hearts and those bisuits look yummy!
Healey

Oh Jason! Wrong 'heart' but equally important!
Jason

Some beautiful red roses here for Mrs Malc (Denise) and look at that street sign
Malc

Almost a full house from Michelle!
Michelle

Smooching with the ED! no extra points for that I'm afraid Paula ;-)
Paula M

Sandra found a top scoring sign and a delicious looking biscuit too!
Sandra

All Sue was missing was a red arrow!
Sue

Wow Vanessa - a riot of redness! And yes who knew there were quite so many dog poo bins at Great Notley!?
Vanessa

A beatiful selfie from the Metsons perfectly framed too!
Victoria

Had to save this picture until last.... it contains THE hottest piece of gossip this year....
It's Guy and Mrs Hedges!!

This week's Treasure Hunt Scores
A special mention to those of you who went out and tracked down a real 'Valentine' sign - Sandra and Malc :-) and to Michelle who found 'lovers' in Clovers! ooooh er Mrs!
