EVENT CANCELLATION - Saturday 30th November 2019

Good morning everyone

Due to severe black ice conditions in the park today, this morning’s parkrun has been cancelled for safety reasons.

My apologies but everyone’s safety must come first.

Many thanks

newyear

Hello everyone

We will be starting the New Year as we mean to go on........with a New Year's Day parkrun starting at the usual time of 9:00am (Wednesday 1st January 2020).  For those who fancy an extra challenge, we will be doing our usual "double" and parkrunning with our neighbours at Oak Hill who will be starting at 10.30am.

Please note that on New Year's Day only, both parkruns count in the table of completed runs.

What if I am not in Winchmore Hill for New Year ??
There is a special page of Christmas and New Year parkrun arrangements at http://www.parkrun.org.uk/special-events

Some parkruns are happening on Christmas Day and New Year's Day and some are not, and in some cases times will be changed. The Christmas and New Year Compendium will tell you which parkruns are happening and if they have changed their start time on either date. So if you are away from Winchmore Hill for Christmas or New Year, there may still be a parkrun you can experience. Note that the Christmas and New Year Compendium page will be updated continuously between now and Christmas as individual parkruns make their decisions, so suggest you check regularly for updates.

Please note that parkruns may cancel at short notice due to poor or dangerous weather conditions, so you are advised to check the website of individual parkruns that you plan to visit closer to the time.

9th Birthday Grovelands parkrun – Saturday 27th July 2019

Grovelands parkrun, Enfield
Event number 472
27th July 2019

Well what a morning it turned out to be !!  So, this week we have experienced the hottest day of the year so far with temperatures hitting an incredible 38c with unbearable humidity.  However, this morning there was no need for sunglasses and cold drinks because it was all about the rain.  And boy did it rain.  Infact trainers could have been swapped for flippers !

Today 137 runners came and joined us as we celebrated the 9th birthday of the Grovelands parkrun.  In keeping with tradition, today's parkrun was run in reverse which always proves challenging for the runners.  Even though everyone was extremely wet, there was a great atmosphere with lots of cheering and smiley faces.  Having a few cakes and sweets helped too :). Despite the awful weather conditions, there were still 9 first timers and an incredible 19 new personal bests.  Big thanks to all those who volunteered today to help out and make sure everything went smoothly.

I would like to make a special mention of our volunteers of the year - Marco Di Franco, Vicki Smith and Lucy Pitter who have shown extreme commitment throughout the year.

I would also like to make a special mention to our extraordinary team of RD's - Andrew Florides, Ron Giddens, Josh Mandel and Barbara Sussman.  We are extremely lucky to have such a dedicated and hard working team who always ensure that the necessary arrangements are made so that the parkrun can be facilitated safely each week.  Your commitment is very much appreciated by everyone.

This morning's 9th birthday parkrun is dedicated to all of our wonderful runners.  Without all of you, our amazing Grovelands parkrun would simply not happen.  A massive thank you to everyone; for all the encouragement given, support, community spirit and laughter along the way.  The Grovelands parkrun is extremely lucky to have you all !

The parkrun kit, having been in the worst possible state ever, has now all been cleaned and dried out. Let's hope for some sunshine next week.

I hope everyone has a great week and I look forward to seeing you all next Saturday.

Best wishes
