It was a beautiful day that greeted us for parkrun on Saturday and the weather seemed to draw out the crowds as 227 people joined us to run, walk or jog the course.
It was GP Pledge Day and we were pleased to welcome doctors and staff from Queens Road Medical Practice who are partnered with parkrun and also a team from Island Health. Dr Gallagher spoke about the benefits of exercise for our physical and mental health which is certainly something all parkrunners understand judging by the smiling faces on Saturday.
We had lots of lovely visitors including James and Becky Wingrave from Woking. James completed his 189th parkrun and Becky kindly volunterred as a timekeeper. After helping to pack up they joined us for coffee and James explained how they enjoyed travelling to diffferent parkruns and meeting lots of people. They loved our course and promised to be back so we look forward to welcoming them again in the future.
It was a week for milestones with Destiny Hollier-Hill earning her 25 volunteer shirt. Hope you will wear your purple shirt with pride Destiny. Jack Skyrme earned his J10 shirt so well done to Jack. Other milestones were Ryan De Jersey reaching his 50th parkrun and Warren Mauger running his 100th parkrun. Fantastic acheivements and congratulations to you both.
We couldn't have parkrun without all the amazing volunteers and whilst the roster for next week looks full we have a number of gaps to fill in the weeks that follow. Please get in touch if you can help as if everyone volunteered just once it would make such an impact.
