Guernsey parkrun Event #171 -10 August 2019

As the worst storm since storm Hannah began to pick up on Friday afternoon, we watched with nervous anticipation as swathes of parkruns began to get cancelled across the mainland. It was with great relief to see the high vis heroes already setting the course up when we pulled into the carpark at 8:20 on Saturday morning.

We were advised that Guernsey always has a lot of visitors and tourists. Today was no exception, despite high winds meaning that there would be no visitors from cruise ships, we still saw visitors from Exeter, Oxford, Wyre Forest, Ipswich, Coventry, Kettering, Billericay & Telford to name just a few...

Today Thomas Merrien was able to run for the first time without looking after a responsible adult. Happy 11th Birthday Thomas!

Well done to Jonathan Smith and Teresa Dowinton who both completed their 50th parkrun today.

Many congratulations to Kirsten Price, volunteering for the 100th time today. What a fantastic achievement!

We also saw 44 brand new parkrunners this week. Welcome to the world of parkrun. We hope to see you again soon.

The course is so much more than a run along the coast, it is one of the most beautiful routes I have visited. The section around the common providing variety as well as scenery and epic views.

Here is the results summary:

This week 213 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 44 were first timers and 18 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 18 different clubs took part.

The event was made possible by 20 volunteers:
