Guildford Junior Parkrun #205

Well done to the 85 runners that braved the cold conditions this morning in Stoke Park for our 205th Guildford Junior Parkrun!

Congratulations to Daniel, Lauren & Ellie for achieving their Half Marathon wristbands and to Alex for completing 50 runs in order to receive his Ultra Marathon wristband today! Such an great accomplishment! Good going everyone.

Although, there was a chill in the air, the park was filled with lots of rosy cheeks & smiling faces. We gave a warm welcome to today’s 13 new runners and after a very energetic warm up (and the reappearance of the sun) we were all ready to go & head to the start line.

There was lots of running, jogging, walking & most importantly, high fiving going on around the course which lead to a brilliant 11 PB’s. Way to go!

A massive thank you goes out to our wonderful volunteers, who made today’s event possible! You guys are AMAZING!

Finally, it was off to the Daisy Chain café to process the results & to enjoy a well earned cup of tea of a lovely hot chocolate for both runners & volunteers alike.

Today’s hi-vis heroes are as follows:
Verity ALLDER, Beth ALLDER, Steve ALLEN, Sam BELL, Shaun BREWER, Helen BROWNE, Kitty FAY, James HANCOX, Richard HODGSON, Jyoti LOPES, Sanika PANDIT, Alex PITT, Thomas STENNETT, Andrew STEWART, Eleanor SUMNER, Guy SURTEES, Leah TUBB, Peter TURNER, Trevor WOOD.

Guildford Juniors 200th Event

We celebrated our 200th Junior Parkrun event in style this morning with balloons, the Mario brothers, a brilliant banana & plenty of cake!

Our fabulous volunteers really went above and beyond to make this event special by spending their morning blowing up balloons & decorating our finish funnel with bunting & banners.

Your Run Directors today were the famous Mario & Luigi from the Mario brothers (aka Jyoti & Shaun) so & we hope you had a fun time & that you enjoyed the cake!!

A big welcome to our first timers today, we loved having you! We hoped you enjoyed your first Guildford Junior Parkrun experience.

Congratulations to our Half Marathon wristband achieves; Harry, Flora, Edith & Darcy. Well done to Zach & Heidi for achieving their Marathon wristbands & to Amber for earring her Ultra Marathon wristband. Such a great accomplishment!! Great work guys!!!

The cakes & sweeties went down a real treat with both kids & parents alike. With a special mention for the Shaun the sheep cake which turned out to be the crowd favourite (only one little eye was left on the sheep by the end).

We had plenty of positive feedback from the field & lots of smiling faces.

Additionally, a huge thank you to the Duke of Edinburgh volunteers that helped to man the cake/sweet station. And to our amazing marshals out on the course cheering on & high fiving all of our participants. It was very much appreciated by the whole team.

Finally, next week is our Halloween Junior Parkrun. So please feel free to dress up in your spookiest costume for a great & fun run.

See you all next week.
