Night Fright is the best local event happening over the Halloween weekend, and is a fantastic way to burn off all the trick or treat candy and get into the Halloween spirit. This 5km run/2km walking event features at the top of the list on The Running Bug's "Spookiest Races" of 2016, and as a highlight event on VisitSurrey.com; so this is one fun run which you cannot miss!
Depending on whether you prefer a trick or a treat, you can enter a 5km run or 2km walk. Both routes follow glowstick trails into the darkest depths of the forest, and raise money for local charity Harrison’s Fund. Fancy dress is more than strongly encouraged: each year this event sees the very best and worst ameature costume-designers battle it out for the “best dressed” awards and prizes on offer.
If you’re 9 -13 bring an adult with you (ghosts don’t count) if you dare to enter the 5km. Glow sticks will guide you towards danger, and past ghouls and ghosts at the Fitstuff Spook Station!
If the idea of running is a bit too frightening, treat yourself to the 2km walk. You’ll find sweets along the way if you’re brave enough...
Those brave enough to enter by the end of September can enter the whole family (or squad) for just £15. Everyone who enters is entitled to a 15% discount on head torches from Fitstuff, Guildford.
The event managers have lots mischievous plans in store, and are looking forward to plenty of ghoulish laughs. Event Director Toby Jenkins says: “This is a really fun event, it’s amazing how darkness changes the forest, so you’ll need to keep your wits about you as you explore the trails of the Chantry Woodlands".
So if you dare to brave the Surrey hills at night this year on 29th October, grab your pitchforks (and head torches) and enter your family and friends into Night Fright!
