Gunnersbury parkrun, Event number 414: 23rd November 2019

This week's run report courtesy of Tim Gray ... many thanks ...

Stayin’ Alive & NENYD

Event 414 Gunnersbury parkrun

So firstly thanks – we were visiting today – and felt very welcomed. I’m told by one of your regulars the park is even more nice when works are not going on – I have to say compared to the patch of scrubby Downs land I’m used to (much as I love it) at Roundshaw you did seem fairly well set up!

So 481 runners from just under 16 minutes to just under an hour – a proper diverse mix.

Lot’s of PB’s, from 1 second (like Charles Sandison, Caroline Busby,  or Talia Louki) or over 6 minutes like Phil Baker,or maybe 8 minutes like Ruth Peacock – that’s a lot Ruth, slow down or how will you keep getting them?

A PB after 97 runs on a course like Oscar Jones is pretty good, or 160 like Henry Dadswell   - Don Muter has had 3 PB’s out of a possible 4 – not bad Don, though Helen King, Anda Bercea & Emeline Sztrakos have 4 out of 4, and Stephen Cripps has 6 out of a possible 7. Fab work from all of you who got PB’s today.

Brand new to parkrun today were Josh Hughes, Charalampos Kanellopoulos, Daniel Marsh, Joanna Mikulski, Alun Roberts, Dougal Shaw, Christina Lempesi, Javier Juan, Paula Salvatierra, Elizabeth Adcock, Emmanuel Coste, Jackie McNerney, Marie Maxwell, Lisa McHugh & Julia Crane. Welcome to the parkun family.

Visitors (a sample only) included Matthew and Amanda Knight from Braunstone (nice to chat to you both in the café after), David Pope from Woking/Guildford, Julia Snedden, Amelia Cloud & Polly Fralley from Bushy, Katerina Fellas from Cassiobury, Holly Ochiltree from Stevenage, Keith Jackson & Sarah Greenley from Hull,  Ashu Sharmar from Crane Park, Kerena Ivens from Banstead Woods, Tim Gray & Ninja Runner Boy from Roundshaw Downs, Inga Sevastjanova and Martin Riddle from Roundhay, and I understand someone from Vietnam. Not a bad spread!

Some milestones today junior 10’s for Jack Juster Cripps, Quinn Dennis, Tharathip Divarangkoon, Orla Pearson, and Mia DeVivenot – Oh my that’s a lot – happy white shirt day to you all.

Then the red shirts – 50 for Christopher Brown, Penelope Vargas, & Eliza Gomez – well done.

Earning the 100 black shirt was Bob Carey.

No 250’s this week – and Roger Thomas with 388 had the most runs on the day.

The weather held, with the rain coming after 10 – nice.

Big thanks to the many and helpful volunteers – you are much appreciated.

So NENYD? For a long time now Gunnersbury has been my Nearest Event Not Yet Done at 20k from home – nice to finally get to you. And Stayin’ Alive? A tourist challenge – so my son Ninja Runner Boy made it today needing BGBGBG he now has Bushy, Guildford, Banstead, Grangemoor, Brockwell juniors, and of course Gunnersbury. Only one more G for our friend Kerena who was kind enough to give us a lift today. Keep an eye out for parkrun tourists strutting their stuff in your park.

Thank you Tim ...
