“Join In ” Event Saturday 7th September

Join In started in a very special year. On the weekend between the end of the Olympics and the start of the Paralympics, 300,000 people took part in the inaugural Join In by going back to where it starts for every great champion: their local sports club.

The aim of Join In is to encourage people to help out at sports clubs and community groups around the UK. The first step is for clubs and groups to host special community events. (There were more than 6,000 events held for Join In 2012.)

Gunpowder parkrun has posted our Saturday event on the Join in website so we may have more first time runners or people enquirying about volunteering on that day.

Join In 2013 looks set to be bigger and better than ever. And everyone's invited! The Join In Summer kicked  off on 27 July and runs through to 9 September. More than 6,500 events have already been registered, and the numbers are growing fast. Search for events near you today.

for more information on Join in please have a look at their website at https://www.joininuk.org
