8th December 2018 – a gusty Halifax parkrun

An early risk assessment by the core team the decision was made

WE ARE ON ....

said Event Director Steph as she updated the Halifax parkrun page on social media. Well you all must have seen the update because despite the wind, showers, cold and the odd snowflake, there were still a wonderful 127 of you joined us.

It was worth it for the beautiful rainbow near the trail - did you see it or were you focusing on the cobbles

Not just our hardcore locals who ventured out we had parkrun tourists from  Brighouse, York, Walsall and Colchester

Karol was our Run Director for the day after being away on holiday in Keswick last weekend , with Karol and Phillip doing a bit of parkrun tourism.

We also welcomed back our regulars Marc and Anne-Marie , you will have noticed the setting out of the cones on the out and back looking disorderly for the last 3 weeks ,  Annie and Marc help to set this out for us with precision cone placing and spacing I Marc and Annie have been trekking in the Himalayas venturing higher than Everest base camp - amazing intrepid duo we missed you welcome back

Celebrations we had today were:

Happy birthday to the lovely Michelle Shepherd

Congratulations and well done on milestones

Puma's Jodie Knowles on her 50th parkrun and Matt Newton on his 100th parkrun ( Matt otherwise sometimes known as big bird by his puma buddies) good to see you both and so many pumas this morning

Paul Greenwood celebrating not only his 50th parkrun but also being first finisher done

Ian Robinson touristing from Walsall on his 50th parkrun

and last but not least, Nicola Darnbrook  who volunteered for the 25th time , was on the park at 8 am setting up and cleared away with us until 10.30 , in between that Nicola did her 100th parkrun and celebrated getting a PB too - and doing this without carrying a coffee or diet coke !

To celebrate, there were lots of goodies brought ...will power needed for those of us syn counting !! - Monday weigh in should be interesting

This week 127 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 16 were first timers and 20 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 18 different clubs took part.
