Halloween Event – Saturday 31st October

It's going to be a scary Saturday!

As Halloween falls on Saturday this year we're going to be hosting a special parkrun on the 31st October. All of the core team will be dressing up and you're welcome to dress up too. There will be cakes and sweets after the run.

Run report, Event #26, 5th September 2015

Karol Whettlock's 100th parkrun!

What an achievement! Karol has been a great supporter of Halifax parkrun since we started six months ago. (Yes, we've been going for 6 months already!) It was great to celebrate this parkrun milestone with Karol, Phillip and Emily.

A huge roar and shout out to Stainland Lions, who staged a takeover at Shroggs Park this morning.They were there to promote the Stainland Trail which takes place on 20th September 2015. More information and online entry can be found via this link http://www.slrc.club/stainland-trail/

The new course at Halifax parkrun is going down a storm, with 43 PBs this week and the course record being blown out of the water by Matthew Pierson.

This week there were 114 runners, of whom 27 were first timers and 43 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 10 different athletics clubs took part.

Halifax parkrun started on 7th March 2015, and since then 1,063 different runners, including participants from 86 athletics clubs, have completed 2,817 runs covering a total distance of 14,085 km, and there have been 827 new Personal Bests.

The female record is held by Tanya SEAGER who ran in a time of 00:18:12 on 2015-08-22 (event number 24).
The male record is held by Matthew PIERSON who ran in a time of 00:16:29 on 2015-09-05 (event number 26).
The Age Grade course record is held by Tanya SEAGER who recorded a 85.16% run (18:12) on 22nd August 2015 (event number 24).

Run Report, Event #19, 18th July 2015

Great to see so many junior runners at Shroggs Park this morning. What a marvelous way to kick off the summer holidays! Seven of our runners today were under 14 years old. They all did brilliantly, showing great running style and some really SPECTACULAR finishes!

A big shout out too for the juniors and mini marshals who helped out and cheered the runners on. Name checks and high fives for Josef, Isabella, Issac and Harrison - thank you for helping everyone!

Anyone over 4 years old can register with parkrun, whether they run or help out (under 11s must be accompanied by an adult). Every time they come along, they will be building up to join one of the parkrun clubs.

Run Report, Event #12 – 23rd May 2015

A lovely morning for 12th Halifax parkrun with the sun even coming through the clouds at one stage. We had 13 first timers, and congratulations to Watson who completed his first parkrun in a time of 18.36, not to mention a massive 37 new PBs! We also had visitors Paula and Peter - a couple from Nottingham who are hoping to complete 100 parkrun visits by October, I believe they're on 92 so far - Good luck to them.

Nathaniel STOCK (JM15-17) of Longwood Harriers AC, was first over the line in 18:03 Calum Hattersley (20-24) (unattached) was second in a time of 18:34

Event cancelled on Saturday, 20th June 2015

"Party in the Park" takes place at Shroggs Park on Saturday 20th June 2015, from 12:00 until 4:00 pm. Halifax parkrun is CANCELLED on this date, for one week only.

However, we will be having a stall at the party, to promote parkrun to the local community. Please come along to say "Hi!" and support this community event.
