Another lovely parkrun at Harrogate saw 307 runners braving wet conditions that turned lovely just before the whistle. Surprisingly a few PBs this week with a reverse course in wet underfoot conditions to boot. From looking at the results, it seems if you are called 'Tom' it was perfect running conditions. Flash streams on corner one didn't hold anyone back! Well done everyone We welcomed first timers and plenty of visitors, we do hope you will join us again once our usual route is back in action. Also, when coming through the finish funnel, Nathan Smith let it slip that he just completed his 100th parkrun milestone! Fantastic stuff Nathan
There was a bit of excitement, Heather, a visiting parkrunner shared a special day with us. After completing her parkrun with us, Heather went on to get married! Her now 'husband' had trotted out to Fountains Abbey for his pre-wedding vows parkrun. Congratulations all round Some of us just have to get our parkrun fix, even on the specialist of days
As always our wonderful volunteers were brilliant, special thanks to those who offered to help when the roster was looking thin earlier this week. Unsung heroes, from getting soaked during setting up, taking a breather during moving house (Mike) facilitating/delivering defib training, then a technical issue during results processing made for some busy volunteers. All powered on tea, coffee and the odd sausage sandwich in The Empress!
Who deserves a mention this week? Joan! Joan delivered some first class life saving defib demo's and helped us have a practice. This proved very popular! It really is something that people who would be strangers (if it wasn't for parkrun) are happy to get stuck in and learn some life saving skills on a Saturday morning! Hopefully we will never need it, but we are very lucky to have had it.
Our two run directors getting stuck in to training
There's always a community spirit and lightness to parkrun at Harrogate, everybody loves a photo bomb, FYI, there were many !
