What Saturday’s are made for.

Ian Dancing to keep warm

Ian Dancing to keep warm

So yet again the wind did blow. But all the volunteers, wrapped up warm and became hero's. the parkrunners happily went off, and arrived back happy to see the finish.  24 volunteers and 236 parkrunners made a happy but breezy morning. It was a tough morning to be volunteering and just to acknowledge the Hi Vis Hero'  here is a e-mail that came in:

Hello Hastings Parkrun,

This morning I dragged the family out of bed to become parkrun tourists with you at Hastings. Our home is in Eastbourne, so it wasn't a long journey. But, I just wanted to pass on my thanks to all your marshals who braved the blustery weather and were full of enthusiasm for over an hour in poor conditions. They were all super-friendly and full of encouragement from the beginning right until the end.
Please pass on our thanks to your volunteers for making our visit worthwhile. Your marshals made the difference for what could have been a horrible run. All of us (our family had a mixture of runners and walkers this morning) found it easier to keep on going with their support - particularly as it was not easy to keep moving on the way back to the start line into the 45mph winds!  We'll definitely come back later in the year when it's a bit less blowy!
Kind regards,
Ben, Debs, Katherine, and Phoebe Pawley
Well done Neil

Well done Neil

There were two milestones  Neil Jeffries wearing his 250 t-shirt and Phoebe Cote who ran her 50th parkrun.

Hastings parkrun will be celebrating IWD  on the 7th of March and  we would like to celebrate by asking you all to try and bring an extra female friend or relative down to run, walk or volunteer at parkrun on this day. Please wear purple if you can. You will be amazed at what parkrun can do!!

Parkrun is for everyone, what people don’t know is that the figures for participation are a little unbalanced. Research shows that across the world women are less likely than men to take part in parkrun – and that’s despite females making up 54% of registrations!  11-17 age group is very under represented.!!!!!  So please encourage any youngsters to come and participate. We actively encourage walking - don't be put off by thinking it's a run. You can bring the kids, the dog, a buggy...everyone is welcome.
