Although we at Hatfield Forest parkrun would love to assume that your entire running world revolves around us, we fully appreciate that you might want to consider races or running courses or running clubs to further progress your running, whatever your goal might be. With that in mind the goal of this semi regular post will be to highlight opportunities available in the local area.
Bishop's Stortford Running Club
BSRC are holding a beginners 10 week course, starting on May 6th. The green & gold army are big supporters of Hatfield Forest parkrun & if you want to sign up (or know someone looking to take up running) & include joining a club in the local area then this could be the course for you.
Unique Running Results
URR have a beginners & all abilities running workshop group starting for ten weeks from May 6th. They'll be based out of Takeley on Wednesday evenings. URR also offer other courses & seminars, details available on their website.
May 10th - Birchanger 10k
Now in it's 5th year, the Birchanger 10k is a two lapper that makes you wonder who ever said Essex was flat? A surprisingly challenging course, you might also get the chance to heckle ED Chris if he forgets the event is on & runs a similar route!
May 25th - Hatfield Broad Oak 10k
The HBO 10k is celebrating it's 30th anniversary this year & has made adjustments to the famous figure of 8 course to improve the runner experience both pre & post run. The event coincides with the village festival, meaning you can run a PB, enjoy an ice cream afterwards & score a win on the tombola table all in one day. One of the largest running events in the county with a field size of 1,500.

July 5th - Bishop's Stortford 10 Mile
10 Mile events are sadly becoming less & less prevalent in the running calendar as more runners opt for 10k or Half Marathon distances. The Stortford 10 Mile, run by Bishop's Stortford Running Club offers the opportunity to bridge the gap between 10k & 21k, a distance that is well worth challenging yourself at.
September 6th - Takeley 10k
Another 10k that takes on part of Hatfield Forest. Start in Takeley on the Flitch, run into the forest, find a pub in the middle of no where, run back along the Flitch (for what can seem like an eternity if you're having a bad day), back into Takeley for a sprint finish.

September 13th - Flitch 10k
If the Takeley 10k didn't have enough of the Flitch Way for you, then Challenge Running's 2nd Flitch 10k surely will. Starting & finishing at the site of our awesome neighbours, Great Notley parkrun, this simple out & back has quite the treat for everyone at the finish, The Hill of Doom! Rather awesome medal as well.
