Event #8 – 9th May 2015

There is clearly something good about our winter course as, although it was looking like a heavy downpour could occur at any moment, 166 of you turned up again for our 8th event.

Look, I got the start line correct this week.

The Run

The cows were out in force this week and took quite an interest in our course signs. I don't think they altered any signs but if you have a Garmin - just check to make sure it was only 5K that you ran.

Please listen to the cows, they know a thing or two about the forest, such as not using cattle grids. You know it will be messy and it upsets our marshals!

Just under 30% of this week's runners recorded a New PB! Whatever it is you're doing - keep doing it!

There were 9 different running clubs at this week's event. Junior runners from the local running club of Bishop's Stortford were out in force (together with their coaches) recording some really impressive times. Well done, great effort.

A core member of the Harlow parkrun team enjoying the forest! I've heard Catherine kept on running, didn't stop until Harlow Town Park.

Two weeks ago it was the London Marathon, last week it was Finish Tokens, does John ever stop?

Not sure what bombshell Dave has just dropped but the rest of us are taking it very seriously - well except for Bekah, our timekeeper.

The Volunteers

As you know, parkrun wouldn't happen each week without the help of volunteers. If you'd like to help out, drop us an email at hatfieldforesthelpers@parkrun.com with your name and parkrun ID number and we'll add you in. If you still want to run, there's roles available that allow you to volunteer AND run, such as: Barcode Scanning (if you can get round in under 22 minutes), Tail Runner, Token Sorting, Pre Event Setup & Post Event Close Down. And you'll get points for both running and volunteering, and what do points make? Well, if you get 25 of them, a parkrun volunteer tshirt!

A big thank you to:
Louise BAKER, Grace CADZOW, Adam CHAPMAN, Margaret CONNELL, Christopher CONNELL, Bekah CRANCH, Craig DODGEN, Fay DODGEN, David GRAY, Georgia HAMMOND, Michelle HASTY, Karl KISALA, Mark KITCHEN, Joanna LAMPRELL, Oliver LAST, Mark LAWRENCE, Angela LOYER, Janice PAGE, Andrea PLEASANCE, Emily SCOFIELD, Paul SCOFIELD, Josephine SHEFFIELD, Karen TAIT

It appears some parkrunners will NEVER be on time! Remember we have to shut the road to vehicles at 8:45am for the safety of runners. Please don't vent your frustration at NT staff or our marhsals if the gate is shut.
If you do arrive after the gates are shut, park at the front car park and walk or jog to the start. Of course you will miss the start (we do try hard to start the run at 9am) but you will still get a time if you have a readable barcode!

Please check our facebook page for any last minute changes.

The NT Cafe ERS Barcodes
You can find us around the NT Café & Shell House area processing your results and enjoying a cuppa and a slice of cake. Why not come along and have a chat with your fellow parkrunners or volunteers?

The NT Café offers a buy 9, get 1 free scheme on hot drinks.
Are you a frequent parkrunner, or does your barcode regularly fail to scan or you're having problems with your printer?

You should consider getting some ERS Barcodes. They come in great little keyring cards, credit card style or wristbands!
