What a great turn out we had this week with 242 parkrunners, coming very close to our attendance record of 249 - will we smash this number at our birthday next week? Time will tell, more on our birthday shenanigans below but first thing's first..
We had Chris Orange return to his home parkrun of Highbury Fields to celebrate his 250th run with us and did so in a great time of 22:14. Stephen Mumford ran his 50th run in 27:47 and John Roback of our core volunteer team celebrated his 100th volunteer stint. We also had 47 first timers and 43 PB's recorded so round of applause to everyone - good work!
On to next week... it is of course our 5th birthday and we can't wait to celebrate. Here's what's in store and how you can get involved too;
-Pacers; we have a range of parkrunners volunteering to pace between 19mins - 32mins so you can try to nail that PB. (Still on the hunt for people to pace 22/29/30mins - please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you can pace one of these times).
-Bakers; what's a birthday without a cake?! We welcome homemade treats so if you've been inspired by the Great British Bakeoff recently then why not get creative in the kitchen and bring a treat along so everyone can enjoy your culinary delights.
-Awards; we'll be announcing the winners of this years points competition and maybe even giving out a couple of prizes too.
-Collection; this year we'll be supporting the Islington Food Bank by taking donations of dried food/tinned goods. If you would like contribute simply bring your items along with you to parkrun as usual. You can find a list of desired items here: https://islington.foodbank.org.uk/give-help/donate-food/
Looks like we're set to have an amazing birthday so I hope you can all make it down and celebrate with us.
Thank you to the volunteers;
John Roback, Ben Roback, Deborah Roback, Emma Roback <<< the entire Roback clan out in force! Alan Quartly, Alex Chase, Jenny McCullough, Jerome Mills, Jessica Vinluan and Lizzy Muggeridge.
See you next week;
Your RD Kim
