The Kirste 5 Memorial Race

is a charming 5 mile route heading to Hockley Woods, returning through Cherry Orchard Jubilee Park, New England Wood, & Grove Wood, now into it’s 8th year.

Sunday 21st July 2019

Kirste was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005, and underwent six bouts of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. She passed away on February 9th 2012, at the age of just 42 after raising more than £50,000 for breast cancer charities by running 23 marathons while fighting the disease.

Her smiling face will be forever missed.

All profits from this race will be donated equally between Macmillan Cancer Support (261017), and Southend Breast Unit (1057266).

A Community Race, supported by Kirste’s friends & family with the help of local Clubs and running groups.

Another record breaking event, with 306 people who ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 54 were first timers and 72 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 21 different clubs took part.

2015 race is being run in aid of charities, BRA The Breast Reconstruction Awareness Charity. No 1048542 & Parc Essex. Play & Resource Centre. Charity No. 1065854.

A rural route starting near Great Notley Country Park taking in the village of Rayne and a small part of the delightful Flitch Way. Chip Timing will be used. No IPODs or similar devices. Sorry the route does not allow for wheelchairs.

St Clares Hospice 10K

St Clare Hospice is once again organising its annual 10k road race event around Hastingwood, this year will be our 21st year! Join us when we hope to get up to 600 people to run, jog or wheel 10km to raise money for the Hospice. Whether you are a novice or experienced runner, everyone is welcome to take part!

We are hoping to raise over £16,000 from this one event to help care for people with life limiting illnesses in West Essex and East Hertfordshire. It costs £2.8 million every year for us to provide our services free of charge and we only receive 30% of our funding from the NHS. So every penny of sponsorship that you raise will make a huge difference to the hospice.

Entry Registration costs £10 for affiliated runners, £12 for non-affiliated runners and on the day registration £13 for affiliated runners, £15 non affiliated runners. 2013 - 371 finished.
