Houghton Hall parkrun is cancelled on 11 July 2020: COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

Event #59 Grey Skies!

A quick brisk walk around the route for any debris, holes or twigs so our community have a smooth a journey as possible. It truly is a journey.... it's so lovely to witness week after week progress from parkrunners.... once our tail walkers to coming into the finish way before the tail walker has even aproached the home stretch.

Every parkrun is different. This week we had 244 participants. The volunteer roster was practically full by Tuesday. We had visitors from Sheffield and Worcester to name a few.

Jed Noblett was first across the finish line leading home 244 runners walkers buggy runners and dog walkers...adults children men and women young and old.

As I look down the list so many new PBs acheived. Very well done.

Thank you to all the volunteers....as always you make it happen!

Event #54 The inbetweener

Greetings and Happy Inbetween! :)

A lovely morning for a Park run- a chance to shake up the blood circulation after a few days of festive treats, turkey and all the trimmings. We had a healthy 204 par-takers this morning! We had as far field as Oz visiting us this morning, the Wirral, Manchester, St Albans and local communities which was lovely.

We were thin on the ground for volunteers this week, and it was at the 11th hour, I started to fill up the roster just in time. Thank to the good souls who also pitched up prior to the start to see if any more help was needed.

We lost just one token this week- number 157!

Thanks to the volunteers- you couldn't do this without you.

We are very grateful to the volunteers who made this event happen:Sharon CHESHAM, Cheryl CURRANT, Jeannette EAMES, Rebecca FITZGERALD, Claire FOOKS, Sarah HAWKINS, Sharon HAWKINS, Alison HUNT, Margaret LAID, Adam LANGFORD, Delilah LEE, Robert LEE, Jackie MUIR, Christopher QUELCH, Paul STACK, Shelah SURGEY, Claire THOMAS, Fiona WEBB

Happy New Year and here's to many ore Saturday Houghton Hall Park runs! x

# 51 The one where our fingers turned BLUE!

Tights, thermals and another pair of trousers on top. Two socks on, a hat coat and gloves then I was ready to start the walk around on Saturday 15th.
Conditions icy cold but otherwise perfect!

Our penultimate Parkrun ahead of the big birthday celebration next week (22nd) for our first BIRTHDAY!

We did need to be thankful as this time lasr year the parkrun was cancelled due to heavy snowfall!

It was a job to talk over the gusty wind at the pre run brief but I made my point quickly to get the run underway.

We had a hearty 135 of you strong like bull partakers this week. That's when you know you are a hard core runner...no matter the conditions you are there ready for your next adrenaline parkrun rush!

It was fab to see and the front runners were real youngsters this week.

Nice to hear we had tourists from as far as Yorkshire and Stewart was celebrating his 250th parkrun!!

See you next week for the birthday one! Happy Christmas shopping and enjoying festive cheer!!

Event #48 Parklife

The week started out with a little help from Ollie our cat- a fair bit of work prep prior to your Saturday Parkruns, goes on in the background, equipment, check and set up, email correspondence and housing all the bits and bobs and sign posts.

Special Milestone shout out to Robert Lee celebrating 50 Parkruns and 50 volunteers! Congratulations. A huge shout out to his partner Jo who was first lady home today with a superb time of 24 32 mins. Flying.

Event # 42 The Slippery when WET one!

Sunday evening, always a bore, when you have Monday morning looming. This takes my mind off that, which is rather nice.
WOW, you guys were drenched and so were we! NOTHING like a hot tea after a parkrun, to process the results with.

This week 192 people ran on the 14th birthday year of parkrun, jogged and walked the course, of whom 17 were first timers and 50 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 15 different clubs took part.

The event was made possible by 20 volunteers: A huge thanks to these hi viz heroes!

Our Pacers:
Russell MEAD

Other volunteers:
Hayley KEEBLE • Sharon HAWKINS • Clare BATES • Alison HUNT • Claire FOOKS • Robert LEE • Frank HIRD • Adam LANGFORD • Michelle AYRES • Luke LANGFORD • Alison MCDERMOTT • Martin JOHNSON • Annalisa FITZGERALD • Rebecca FITZGERALD • Ian BYFORD • Roger FENWICK • • Kim AYRES and Claire Thomas.

Congratulations to our Tail Walker, Claire Fooks, who celebrated her 50th Parkrun this week.

There was a few near misses, with fellow runners whizzing up to the finish line and having a little slip slide towards our token ladies!

Thank you to all that gave their tokens back for barcode scanning, no missing tokens this week... result! I heard the PB bell ringing, which is fab and so good to hear. Please sign up, drop us an email if you can spare an hour to volunteer every now and then.

Please please always TAKE a token when you finish. If you don't intend to have a time processed for yourself, just hand it to the barcode scanner where it can be separated from the main scanned tokens. Simples and no confusions within the results.

Have a lovely week and we 'll see you next week for another go!

Many thanks as always
Claire Thomas x
