Huddersfield parkrun 13/12/14 – The parkrun that didn’t happen!

Cancelling a parkrun is not a decision we take lightly at Huddersfield, but on Saturday morning, the black ice underfoot sadly left me with no other choice. I posted on our social media pages https://www.facebook.com/Huddersfieldparkrun and https://twitter.com/Huddsparkrun) and sent an e-mail to everybody who has "opted in" to receive volunteer appeal e-mails from us  (It's really easy to do, just follow this link and it will explain everything http://support.parkrun.com/hc/en-us/articles/200566453-How-do-I-volunteer-), which explained our decision so my apologies if you turned up to Greenhead Park and were unaware of the circumstances. Martin Andersen and David Ibbotson stuck around for a coffee in the cafe to break the news to anybody who turned up, so I'd like to thank them both for that.

Simon and I then made the decision to head to Dewsbury parkrun, to see Tom Howard (their ED) and see if they needed any help. Turns out they wanted somebody to time, so we both took on that role! Tom was very kind to let us start the parkrun which was 6 laps of the top part of the park, with their pond being out of bounds due to black ice.

Dewsbury parkrun had 79 finishers, one of whom was our parkrun ambassador, Ronnie Bray. Ronnie was planning on coming to Huddersfield parkrun on Saturday but made the decision to head to Dewsbury once he found out we were cancelled. Hopefully Ronnie will be coming back to see us at Huddersfield one weekend soon! The weather looks to be warming up towards the weekend (an almost tropical 10c on Thursday apparently) so our Santa run WILL be on, as long as we don't get any more ice! I know there are probably lots of you who won't be in Huddersfield over the festive period, but there are lots of opportunities around the country to get your special Christmas Day/New Years Day parkrun fix, and the big Christmas Compendium is here  http://www.parkrun.org.uk/christmas-compendium/

For the month of November, we chose Lee Runton to be our parkrunner of the month. Lee has run 77 times at parkrun and has volunteered 8 times this year at Huddersfield parkrun. Lee completed his first ever parkrun on the 24/11/12 and has a PB of 20:20.

Well done Lee!

Hopefully see you all on Saturday,

Mark

This coming Saturday, we have a special opportunity being offered to us by adidas, one of the fabulous sponsors of parkrun.

They are set to launch their new running revolution, BOOST foam technology, this week and they will be showcasing it at our parkrun. Revolutionary energy return, superior cushioning, optimal fit and temperature independence: adidas introduces the Energy Boost, a cushioning technology that provides the highest energy return in the running industry. And just like that, running will never be the same.

This weekend, there will be competitions, a chance to try on the shoe and lots more adidas love.

Timer problems……Opps!

Hello, you lovely parkrunners.

There has been an issue with the timer this week.....it failed to record any results.....the bad timer!

Please could you email your times if you know them, approximate times would be okay too, so that with the magic of parkrun we can put a set of results together.  huddersfieldoffice@parkrun.com   or post on our Facebook page www.Facebook.com/huddersfieldparkrun

We will not be able to process the results until Monday afternoon until we have enough emailed results.  But I am sure that you can all wait patiently!

Thank you so much!

Kerry  Huddersfield Event Director

Little problem with timer!!! 4th Feb 2012

We have had a little bit of a problem with the timer this week, nothing we can't sort out with a pencil, paper and bit of mental maths (we will have no problem with the mental bit!)

So.....the results won't be uploaded until Sunday afternoon.  I am sure that you can all wait until then!

If you have your time and position, please could you email us at huddersfieldoffice@parkrun.com so we can cross reference.

Thank you for your understanding.

Kerry and Chris
