I sent this out to our volunteers today, but it applies equally to all our stakeholders:
I hope you are well.
I seem to have bumped into a few of you around and about. Whether it be on top of Latrigg, in Booths or the car park of High Hill garage.
I hope you are keeping well and managing to keep yourselves busy in these very strange times.
Can you believe that it was 15 March when we had our last Keswick junior parkrun? Then we were battling the winds and rains and had to contend with storms Ciara, Dennis and Jorge. We had the wettest February on record and March looked set to be the same. Then the lockdown happened and the weather improved. The last few days of light rain have done little to dampen the grounds. If people were allowed to do the Bob Graham Round, we'd be seeing some record breaking times. Like in 2018.
I had a call from Derry at parkrun HQ this week. He was just checking that we were ok and that we would be ready to go when the all clear was given. I said that I had seen many around and about and had kept tabs on people via their facebook posts and have even messaged some.
Like all of us, he said that there was no indication as to when we would be able to start again. They will be guided by government. It is possible that social distancing restrictions may stay in place longer than the lockdown. So gatherings of large numbers of people may still not be permitted. But this was all speculation.
I just wanted to say hello, I'm missing our parkrun fix of Saturday and Sunday mornings. And if you want to say hello, please feel free to get in touch.
Hope to see you all very soon.
