The parkrun always seems to reflect what's going on in town to some degree or another, and there were hints of the beer festival at parkrun this weekend...
There has been a great relationship between the organisers of the Beer festival and Keswick parkrun over the years, with the festival being active fund raisers for us in the past, in part due to the excellent work of my late friend David Robinson. David's family made the journey North for the festival, and of course, included Keswick parkrun in their travels. Good to see you all.
It doesn't explain Scooby Doo, though.
Scooby's partner is a runner firstly, but also a multiple sclerosis sufferer, and Scooby does lots of fund raising. Thanks for coming to visit us in Keswick, and I hope you enjoyed it.
As is often the case, there was some very speedy running going on at the front, with Salford Harriers' Chris Livesey completing the course in 16'11, Nathan Lawson on Dark Peak Fell Runners just behind in 16'17, and Keswick's Angus Wightman in 18'47. Good work all.
Wolverhampton's Hannah Pearson was first female in 19'46, followed by Nichola Jackson of Ribble Valley Harriers in 19'59, and Kenilworth's Esther Illman in 21'19 giving a complete podium for the tourists. Obviously worth the journey.
I have no idea what to expect next weekend, except that we have an Ironman triathlete on the volunteer roster, and hopefully a few more amongst the runners. I seem to remember a pair turning up in Speedos last year to run the course. Or was that a dream!? We'll see.
Triathlon or 5km, we'll look forward to welcoming you all one Saturday.
Here are some of the statistics from this week's run. See you soon.
