Our report has been produced by one of our regular runners/volunteers, Karen Brewer.
Karen did the EDCC role this morning( running the course to check it out), ran the event and then wrote the report! Brilliant work!
Happy leap year run, may be the only one we ever do!! ??
and what a day starting early all wrapped up, prepared for the storm the weather people promised us! off I set to check the course, backwards, as I thought I would save getting soaked till the end, I was warm by the time I had reached the top of the hill! the mud was impressive as I passed by the finish area and onto the field, stripping of my coat and gloves, it really was not too bad out , the middle of the course was fine, then to cow corner, where I paused for a second mmmmm, can I negotiate this and keep my dry feet dry for a few more minutes??? ha ha ha of course not! knees up and just keep going heading towards jelly bean corner,it could be mistaken for a small lake!!, and on to the sodden field , I was now carrying my snood, my headband was off, and my fleece and jacket around my waist!! towards the gazeebo to report back, what I am sure everyone knew, the course was very wet and muddy! the weather changed very quickly, as everyone turned up, the wind got up, and the rain began brrr as we all huddled together contemplating , when we should be brave enough to walk to the start, well a great mud flicking start and water spraying everywhere up the track , but still a great fun, run, and the so called sprint finish is just getting slower each week, it is more a stay upright challenge!! we will all miss this when the sun finally shows its face, well if like me you sometimes struggle to get out of bed, volunteer!! it really helps! happy parkrunning.
