EVENT CANCELLATION – Sunday 9th February 2020

High winds and heavy rain forecast so sadly we have to cancel tomorrow's event.

A big thank you to those of you who still volunteered, despite Storm Ciara - unwavering and truly committed. ❤️

Hope to see you all next week!

Run report 26/1/20 #223

A massive well done to all of you who beat the January blues and came to join us on this wet Sunday morning. It was an absolute pleasure to see 115 finishers this morning. A warm welcome to our 10 first timers- we look forward to seeing you again. Also a big hello to our Parkrun tourist, joining us all the way from Portugal!

Well done to Emily Freshwater-Turner for earning your half marathon wristband, which will be ready for you next week. If you can't make it, please don't worry. Just let the Run Director know at the next event you are attending and we will sort it out for you.

Finally a huge thank you to all of those high viz wearing, smiley volunteers. It was lovely to see our giraffe and racoon tail walkers this morning too.

Run Report 19/01/20 Event 222

Well, a beautiful day at Kings Weston today and a great turnout, all 97 of you.  Conditions were fine, though still a bit boggy in places. That didn't stop 22 of you achieving a personal best today, well done!! We had 4 First Timers today, plus a family of visitors from London.  Great to see you all and hope to see you again. We're missing 2 Finish Tokens this week, numbers 68 and 83.  If you have them, could you please return them next week. Some wristbands awarded this week - well done Benjamin and Freddie Williams for getting your Half Marathon bands and a big shout out for Warm up leader, Hari Davies, for getting your Ultra wristband today, that's 50 runs!!!! Amelie Griffiths completed her 11th run today so is due a Half Marathon wristband next week, as is Marnie Forrest will will get a Full Marathon band for her 21st run.

The Selfie Photo Frame was well used today, do please post the photos on the Facebook page if you can, they all looked great.

Finally, some money was found on the run today.  Please let us know if you think it was yours and where you think you lost it.  We'll return to you next week, otherwise it will be to the eagle-eyed finder.

Run Report 3/11/19 Event 212

Wasn't it just a great day for running round Kings Weston today - especially after all of the rain we had yesterday and the less-than-favourable forecast we had for today. Thank goodness the rain didn't put in an appearance, what a welcome change!

Today we had 99 finishers which given the conditions is just smashing. Amongst that number we had 7 first timers. I really hope you enjoyed your run and that we will see you again soon. I have made a note of the runners who reached their half marathon and full marathon wristbands this week, and we will give you a shout out next week. I can also see that we now have quite a backlog of unclaimed wristbands. We give a shoutout the week after the milestone has been achieved, but if you miss that event, please don't worry. Just come up to the run director on the day and we will sort it out for you. Its worth mentioning again that you can print out a pdf certificate to mark the achievement too. These are on the child's profile.

Our 212th event today was also our first with our new selfie frame! What did you think of it? Did you get your photo taken? If you have any photos, and feel comfortable sharing them, then we would certainly like to see. I saw lots of big smiles today and rightly so, you were all amazing completing the course today. The selfie frame will be back next week around the finishing area for more photos.

A final thanks as always to our army of volunteers, which included local young adults completing their Duke of Edinburgh award. We can't put on the event without you and we are grateful for your support. If you would like to volunteer at any of our upcoming events we would be thrilled. You can either like our facebook page and comment when you see a volunteer appeal or you can opt-in to receive our email appeals by ticking the box on your profile.

Thanks again everyone!

See you next week,

Jacqueline (today's Run Director)

Run report 13/10/2019 Event 209

Well what a day that was! I must admit when I looked out and saw all the rain this morning I wondered how many participants we would have today. With that in mind, it was an absolute pleasure to see 74 children run and to welcome an incredible 11 first timers to Kings Weston. Wow! You picked some day for your first junior parkrun. Hopefully everyone had fun jumping over (or perhaps in!) all of the puddles and is now dried off and warm - and clean!

We were able to award two half marathon wristbands today to Charlotte and Eloise. Hooray! We do now have a bit of a backlog of wristbands. We only give a shout-out the week after the wristband milestone has been achieved (that's 11, 21 or 50 parkruns) so if you miss a week, please do come up and speak to the run director on the day. We will be happy to help. We love seeing the big smiles when we had out the wristbands. We had Ella and George reach their 50 and 11 respectively this week so we will be calling your names next week. Please remember to print out the pdf certificate that appears on the child's profile - its another great way to mark the achievement.

A final thank you to all our volunteers today, many of whom were volunteering for the first time. We can only run our event with the support of in excess of 20 volunteers each week so we are truly grateful. Thank you to all the responses to our Facebook and email appeals.

See you next week when hopefully it will be slightly drier!
