On a morning of glorious sunshine Scotland's newest parkrun (we delayed the start by a few minutes to allow our twin event at Loch Leven get started) got underway at Lanark Moor. A varied selection of visitors from around the UK were in attendance including 56 from Strathclyde, 3 from Livingston, 10 from Pollock and 20 local runners made up the majority of the 112 runners. along with 21 volunteers. Amongst those running included Maisie Spiers who came along to complete her 10th milestone parkrun and Max Gallagher who decided that our inaugural was the best place to celebrate his 15th birthday. To mark his birthday and after having 111 runners sing Happy Birthday to him Max had the honour of officially starting the first Lanark Moor parkrun.
Positive feedback was in abundance following the event with a few points for the core team to think about. The general consensus was that the course is hilly/tough but very good, maybe the free biscuits from local firm Border Biscuits influenced things.
