Course record smashed today!! Our previous record was 17.48 but Pete le Grice took over two minutes off that time by finishing in 15.37! The second runner was just coming onto the loop when Pete had completed nearly two laps. He then set his sights on catching and overtaking any runners before he went into the finish which he successfully did of all bar the second place!
We had some early birds from Bromley turn up as they took the only bus from Penzance which would get them to parkrun on time - the 6.30am arriving at 7.30am! They then had a walk to Porthcurno in order to get the bus back to Penzance and then the train to St Austell as they were staying at the YHA at Eden.
Mother and son, Sandra and Sam Treleven, have been planning this event for a while as they both wanted to complete their 100th parkrun together. Well done to both of them! Mike Kestle from Newquay kept very quiet the fact that this was his 200th parkrun but his friends let the cat out of the bag!
Today was also International Women's Day and Active Cornwall donated 100 pedometers and some t-shirts, which were all handed out to the runners whether male or female as they all took part.
