Land’s End parkrun is cancelled on 2021-05-08 – COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

Possible cancellation – Saturday, 15 February 2020

Just a heads up for Saturday - the weather is looking awful (again!) 52mph winds and 87% chance of rain - great!

I'll make a definite decision on Friday as to whether to go ahead or not. Don't want anyone being blown away!

International Women’s Day – 7 March 2020

#IWDparkrun

Research across the world shows that women are less likely than men to take part in parkrun. In an effort to encourage more women and girls to participate, we are planning this female-focused parkrun which also supports the This Girl Can campaign.
What we’d really like, is for you to ask your female friends and family if they would like to take part in this special event, whether volunteering or running – perhaps you could help facilitate this for them by helping out with childcare that week or unburdening them from other ties that may prevent them from attending. Maybe offer a little encouragement and let them know that parkrun is for running, jogging or walking – it’s not a race, it’s fun!

Ideally we would like everyone to wear purple on that day.

The prize for commitment to parkrun goes to Vince and Claire Deritis who caught the sleeper train from London to Penzance, jumped in a taxi and took part in today's parkrun at Land's End!!!  They then walked to Sennen Cove, caught the bus back to the train station and went home again!  WOW!!

Our course record was broken yet again.  This time by Sam Swift in a time of 17.48.

We worked with the organisers of the Arc of Attrition 50 mile race from the Minack Theatre to ensure that both events could take place safely even though their race ran the opposite way along part of our parkrun course.  It was great to see the ultra runners cheering on the parkrunners and vice a versa!

Today's event was held in beautiful sunshine, with just a light breeze, although it was slightly colder than usual, even our regular vest wearer George had a shirt over his today.

Winner of the prize of a free entry to a parkrun next week, for the parkrunner travelling the furthest came from Newcastle.
