Leamington parkrun Event 333 – 5th August 2017 – Thank you’s !!

A big thank you this week to our vigilant parkrunners Clare Bryan & Tim Down for spotting and advising us in good time of the monster of a tree that had decided to lay across the path on our parkrun route causing us a major obstacle.

Caspar Battam his chainsaw and helpers came into action on Friday morning and worked their magic ensuring that the tree was re-located and path cleared so that we could go ahead with Saturday's event. So an even bigger thanks to Casper and his team. We really do appreciate the way our parkrun community pulls together in an hour of need. You are fabulous bunch and we're so lucky and proud to be part of great team.

A final 'Thank you' has to go our 32 heroes of the day - our volunteers who made Event 333 possible. Please do all check your diaries for the next few weeks. There's lots of volunteering slots to fill and without this team we cannot put on our weekly run. Please drop us a line at leamingtonhelpers@parkrun.com referencing your Barcode as we would love to hear from you.

On the subject of Barcodes just a little reminder. As Susie had mentioned on Saturday, please all take a minute to check that your ICE (In Case of Emergency) details are updated. Log on to your profile easily done from your last result and just a couple of lines to complete, but just so important which also gives us peace of mind when we need to contact a member of family in the event of an unexpected emergency.

The World Championships in Athletics 2017 may well be in full flow in London, however here in Leamington we had our own champions on board.

Fully deservant of a Gold medal to add to her collection would be our very own Susie Tawney. This week she celebrated her 100th Volunteering role. What a fabulous achievement for her and for all of us. Well done Susie and thank you from all of us for giving up all of those precious hours for us.

Well done to Kieran Chahal ( Leamington C & AC) coming in first with a great time of 17:46. His 8th time in 130 appearances. Excellent work Kieran!

Finally, congratulations and welcome to our first lady home Caroline Abid ( Run Like a Girl). This was her first appearance with us crossing the line in 21:18. Hopefully we'll be seeing lots more of her as she joins the parkrun community.
