Leamington parkrun #444

5th October 2019

This Friday night I had the usual pre-parkrun conversation with my husband. He asked how many I had done and I replied that this was my 44th. He informed me (again) that he felt I must be counting down as I’ve been working towards 50 runs for so long now!

Well I suppose It does feel that way sometimes, until you remember that is a whole year of Saturdays! So today I admired all the milestone T-shirts out on display and thought about all the dedication that goes into running 100 or even more! I also noticed a “25 volunteer” T-shirt which I want to be my next target. A massive thank you to the smiley volunteers who turn up in their own time and allow others to reach their goals.

Today, Emma SPENCERGill FRIGERIO and Rachel KILLIAN ran their 50th parkruns and  Chrissie CHANNING ran her 100th.

Today we also celebrated parkrun’s 15th birthday. I wonder if, when it was set up all those years ago, anyone would have realised how big it would grow?!  Talking of which, we have a new neighbour at Warwick Racecourse parkrun and are working on a Warwick junior parkrun too, so the family continues to expand.

* Please give the Warwick Racecourse parkrun team a few weeks to find their feet before paying them a visit.  Thanks *

At today's parkrun we had lots and lots of homemade cake and we ran to honour the memory of Rose on what would have been her 5th Birthday.  All the money raised will be donated to our charity of the month, The Laura Centre  http://thelauracentre.org.uk/ which offers specialist bereavement counselling to parents whose child has died and to children or young people who have been bereaved of a parent or significant person.
