Christmas and New Year

As usual there will be no Leamington parkrun on Christmas Day because of the Christmas run in St Nick's park on that day.

On New Year's Day we will host a 10.30am parkrun at Leamington (so you can have a bit of a lie in if you've overdone the celebrations ;-) ).  There will not be a run at Warwick Racecourse but, if you can face an early start, Stratford-upon-Avon parkrun are starting at 9am.

New Year's Day is the only day of the year when you are permitted to run two parkruns in a day, better known as ‘The New Year’s Day Double’.  If you choose to do this, please do not take risks when travelling between venues.

And please don't forget, in order to run this fabulous event each week, we need volunteers - even on New Year's Day.  Drop us an email at to sign up (don't forget to include your barcode.)

Love Leamington parkrun's Christmas elves

New Year parkrun

Dear all you lovely park runners - so that you can plan out your festive season of running. We just wanted to let you know that we won't run the Leamington parkrun on Christmas Day - there is an event in St Nicholas Park, Warwick run by local running clubs (I'll get details and put on the FB for you all) but we will run Leamington parkrun on New Years Day. The only way we can do this is if we have the volunteers to help - we have to still run it safely.

So Saturday 19th December = YES, Saturday 26th December = YES, Friday 1st January = YES (9am start but check FB this may alter) & Saturday 2nd January = YES & Saturday 9th January (OUR 250th parkrun) = YES.

Remember all events will need volunteers to cover the essential parts.

Cheers All

Kevin & Sarah - your co-Event Directors

Christmas and New Year

At this moment, Leamington parkrun is not having a run on Xmas Day but but we ARE running at 10am on NEW YEAR'S DAY.

PBs and Delayed Results

It was a lovely day for a run on Saturday. Mind you, any day is a lovely day for a run. There were slightly less of us out there, but we recorded 40 new PBs, that's almost 20% of you running faster than ever before. If you did very well, congratulations, you know who you are. Make sure you tell your friends because it's something to be proud of. I'll put some names at the bottom from the report we get sent.

There was a delay in getting results across the parkrun world this weekend. Thank you all for not inundating us with impatient emails looking for your results. They are usually dependent on two things:

1) How quickly the RD can get on with the all-important task of uploading our various devices and muddling through the data. When everything works well we only have to click a few buttons and the results are done. Usually there are missing barcodes in the scanner files and checking them out/deleting them can slow us down. Sometimes we really have to do less important things with our loved ones before we can process the results and both of these factors can cause minor delays. It usually means your results come an hour or so later than they might have done.

2) There is a problem with parkrun HQ computers. That is what happened this weekend. We can't do anything about it, just be patient and keep trying. The results system is all online and if it isn't working we can't even tell you your result if you buy us wine. Although it might be worth a try.

Is there a better way to start your Christmas or New Year than running? I know that Buck's Fizz and smoked salmon come high on lots of people's lists but just think how much better they taste after a run!

  • There is a free Four Mile Race in St Nicholas Park on Christmas Day. Lots of us will be there so come and join us. They are opening the New Bowling Green pub especially for us. Details will be in the next run report.
  • New Year's Day parkrun is the best possible way to burn off your hangover and start the year as you mean to go on. Are you up to it? We're giving you a break and starting it at 10:00. Come on, you know you want to.

New Year parkrun – WEDNESDAY 1st January 2014

Shrug off the night before and establish the sincerity of your new year's resolutions. Be the envy of your friends and relations - before they are are even conscious! (And we are looking for volunteers too. Must be reasonably sober.)

Just like parkrunning - but on a Wednesday!!!

We still need some volunteers to make it happen and we think it will start at 10am (as slight concession).
